Turcotte opened his website in 2002 with the intention of producing "open source music". His self-produced single, Brad Sucks One, included the audio source files used to create the finished files, and later he posted these source files to his website along with the MP3s.
Turcotte waives all rights to his songs, essentially making them public domain. This total freedom allows him to promote his music through sites such as Magnatune and ccMixter, as well as Myspace and Podsafe. Since he was one of the first to make this decision, he also received free publicity through blogs and interviews in free culture magazines. His first full CD, I Don't Know What I'm Doing, was released both through Magnatune and a limited "professional" printing from his own website.
Turcotte also runs the website stripcreator.com , which allows participants to create their own talking-head webcomics. He is also the creator of in4mador. He is also listed on Sellaband, a website where artists co-ordinate raising money to record an album.

Total Breakdown
Brad Sucks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why don't you just smile and have a good time about it
I'm always trying
To see the bright side of everything you're always down about it
And you're always telling me telling me
That I might as well give it up again
Every night every night living with a
Girlfriend on the verge of total breakdown
You and I
Baby I just don't wanna talk about it
And then it's if you mind
Maybe I'll write a song about it
And how it's killing me killing me
That I might as well give it up again
You're gonna do what you want
Every night every night living with a
Girlfriend on the verge of a total breakdown
The lyrics of Brad Sucks's song "Total Breakdown" depict a tumultuous relationship between the singer and their girlfriend. The first two lines suggest that the girlfriend is intentionally trying to cause chaos and destruction in the singer's life. However, rather than confronting her about it, the singer suggests that she should at least enjoy the experience if that is her goal. This presents the singer as somewhat passive and unwilling to confront the issues in their relationship head-on.
The second verse highlights the contrast between the singer's attempts to maintain a positive outlook and the girlfriend's perpetually negative attitude. Despite the singer's optimism, the girlfriend is always bringing down their mood. The line "you might as well give it up again" suggests that this is a recurring issue between them. The last two lines reveal that the girlfriend is not just causing chaos in the singer's life, but also in her own life. She is on the verge of a total breakdown, which may be a result of her negative mindset and the strain on their relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of "Total Breakdown" paint a picture of a dysfunctional relationship with a partner who is intentionally causing chaos and exhibiting signs of mental distress. The singer appears to be struggling to confront these issues and relies on music as an outlet for their frustration and pain.
