They were signed to "Smiths" producer Stephen Street's "Foundation" label. Street also produced the major share of Bradford's material during their 2 year association before the band signed with Sire/Warner Bros. Their most recognised work included singles "Skin Storm" and "In Liverpool" and the album "Shouting Quietly". Described as melodic indie pop, the band's sound drew influence from artists such as Elvis Costello, Julian Cope and the Smiths, this combined with their skin head image heightened their brief notoriety. Press darlings Bradford were tipped for big things and considered by many to be the forerunners to the Brit Pop movement. An inability to shake off the Morrissey tag though and their indifference to an emerging 'Madchester' scene proved instrumental in the band's premature demise in 1992.

The band toured extensively and supported artists including Primal Scream, Joe Strummer, the Sugarcubes and James, as well as opening for Morrissey at his now legendary first post-Smiths concert at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in England in 1988. Members include vocalist Ian Michael Hodgson, guitarist Ewan Butler, keyboards John Baulcombe, bassist Jos Murphy and drummer Mark McVitie. Morrissey later went on to pay the band the ultimate tribute by releasing a cover of their debut "Skin Storm". Other fans of the band included comedian Jack Dee and Housemartins & Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton. Ian H later formed band 'Acoustic Uprising' while guitarist Ewan Butler wrote and performed with US rap artist 'Ithaka'. I'm saying those cops in the show had plenty of opportunities to call a code 3 before using those BS smoke grenades and advance through the smoke. Start talking the moment you start firing. You can return fire with a one-arm aim (lay down fire is the key) and hold your PTT and start talking cuz you don't know if the next second you'll be dead or not. Fire, retreat and talk at the same time because in a situation where the bad people has the advantage, your personal safety comes first, not eliminating the suspects. Every seconds count in a OIS and you have to send out your code 3 fast. At least this is what they taught us in the academy here in Ohio.

Calling out a shot fire and letting other officers know you're in trouble is a MUST. You don't know if you're dead or not the next 10 seconds. Send out the code 3 and let your fellow officers start their reponse to help you. Every minutes count. If the officers went through a gun fight without calling out shots fired, I'm confident they'll either lose their job or seriously disciplined by OIC. At least this is what I was taught in the academy, unless your department does something different (assuming you're a cop?)

I really like this show. In a time where tensions with police are high and racial issues have resurfaced they did a really good job of pointing out the seriousness of these situations without getting over the top preachy about it. That’s what got everyone watching and was so good about the first series. It was actually somewhat realistic, the rigorous hell of training and the fact that Nolan shot someone was a massive deal. Now it happens every 5 minutes and they just walk off and get some lunch

Plate carriers are typically exterior vests, in this case that was soft body armor (level 1) stopping pistol rounds up to .45 caliber, these are always worn under the shirt by LAPD operating procedures.

Well that’s not true, most departments actually wear outer vests that are significantly better, but departments within Los Angeles County use under-shirt vests that use slimmer plates, that don’t protect as well, these imposters were wearing the undershirt vest outside their shirt

Eh, no real cop wears their armor vest on the outside of their shirt covering ALL of the identifiers. Even the departments that do wear their vests on the outside of the shirt do so because they are running tac vests, which means that their badge + police patch would be on it, along with all of the gear that makes up the entire point of running a tac vest.

No, that vest they wear on top is called a plate carrier which some cops wear that carries some of their equipment. The vest you guys are talking about is their Kevlar vest, bullet resistant vest, which is worn under.

Sooo a regular lapd patrol vehicle randomly has military grade smoke grenade in the front seat easily accessible during the start of a gun fight where heavily armed men are firing at you so you holster your weapon to leave cover and concealment to throw it at armed men then rush in while shots are randomly being fired!!!!
