The band toured extensively and supported artists including Primal Scream, Joe Strummer, the Sugarcubes and James, as well as opening for Morrissey at his now legendary first post-Smiths concert at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in England in 1988. Members include vocalist Ian Michael Hodgson, guitarist Ewan Butler, keyboards John Baulcombe, bassist Jos Murphy and drummer Mark McVitie. Morrissey later went on to pay the band the ultimate tribute by releasing a cover of their debut "Skin Storm". Other fans of the band included comedian Jack Dee and Housemartins & Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton. Ian H later formed band 'Acoustic Uprising' while guitarist Ewan Butler wrote and performed with US rap artist 'Ithaka'. I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until the broad daylight
Because I'm ready
And I'm able
I'm willin' and I'm able
So you better come and go with me
Talkin' on the phone is not my speed
Don't send me no letter `cause I can't read
Don't be long `cause I'll be gone
We gonna rock and roll all night long
`Cause I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until tomorrow night
Talkin' on the phone is not my speed
Don't send me no letter `cause I can't read
Don't be long `cause I'll be gone
We gonna rock and roll all night long
`Cause I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
I'm ready, I'm willin', and I'm able to rock and roll all night
Come on, pretty baby, we gonna rock, we gonna roll until tomorrow night
In "I'm Ready," Bradford sings about being ready, willing and able to "rock and roll all night" with his pretty baby. The song is a classic example of the rock and roll genre, with its upbeat rhythm, simple melodies, and catchy lyrics. Bradford's voice is strong and confident, conveying a sense of excitement and urgency that is perfect for the song's subject matter.
The opening verses set the tone for the rest of the song, as Bradford declares his readiness to rock and roll all night. He invites his partner to join him on this wild ride, promising to keep the music going until the early hours of the morning. He then emphasizes his readiness and ability to rock and roll, repeating the chorus with even more conviction.
The next verse reveals that Bradford is not one for small talk or written communication - he prefers action and face-to-face interaction. The urgency of the song increases as he warns his partner not to take too long or he'll be gone. The chorus repeats again with the same energy, as Bradford reaffirms his intentions to rock and roll all night long.
Overall, "I'm Ready" is a classic rock and roll song that captures the spirit and energy of the genre. Bradford's voice and lyrics are perfectly suited to the song, and the upbeat rhythm and easy melody make it a timeless classic.
