Play Crack the Sky
Brand New Lyrics

We sent out the SOS call
It was a quarter past 4 in the morning
When the storm broke our second anchor line
Four months at sea 4 months of calm seas to be pounded
In the shallows off the tip of montauk point
They call them rogues they travel fast and alone
One hundred foot faces of God's good ocean gone wrong
What they call love is a risk

Cause you will always get hit out of nowhere by some wave and end up on your own
The hole in the hull defied the crews attempts to bail us out
And flooded the engines and radio and half buried bow
Your tongue is a rudder

It steers the whole ships sends your words past your lips
Or keeps them safe behind your teeth
But the wrong words will strand you
Come off course while you sleep

Sweep your boat out to sea or dashed to bits on the reefs
The vessel groans the ocean pressures its frame
Off the port I see the lighthouse through the sleet and the rain
And I wished for one more day to give my love and repay debts
But the morning finds our bodies washed up thirty miles west
They say that the captain stays fast with the ship through still and storm

But this ain't the Dakota and the water is cold
We won't have to fight for long this is the end
This story's old but it goes on and on until we disappear

Calm me and let me taste the salt you breathed while you were underneath
I am the one who haunts your dreams of mountains sunk below the sea
I spoke the words but never gave a thought to what they all could mean

I know this is what you want
A funeral keeps both of us apart
You know that you are not alone
Need you like water in my lungs
This is the end

One of the rarest of albums where every single song is a 12 out of 10.

Dale Rhea

No kidding and over a decade later. Still gives me chills

The album is okay, but this song is definitely a 12/10

69th like! I would be happy about that if i weren't crying to this song for the 69,000th time...

I’ll go years sometimes without listening to this album, but I always come back to it. Such great music!

when i was 16 i was sent to the hospital for manic clinical depression. This song was my theme song for those two long weeks and to this day it serves as a symbol of the scared little girl that will always live in my heart. To me this is a song of acceptance. The struggle of accepting me, in all my weakness.

Selayna Bechtold

thats beautiful

MultiWindchime, I know we are complete strangers but I am so happy and proud of you that you made it through those dark times in your life. I know exactly how you felt then and maybe still feel slightly. I've been there and it's really hard to pull through from all that darkness. But you did it, your here now and that is what is important. You seem like a very strong person and not everyone can do what you did. Congratulations and keep hanging in there. You are not along beautiful. Just keep your chin up and positive thoughts. I believe in you. Stay safe and well. 😁😁😁❤❤❤❤

I know this is a late reply, but I sure do hope you’re feeling better. Having to go through that- especially at such a young age- is shitty. But you held on, and we’re proud of you
