Son of Suzanne Cox of the legendary Cox Family, he was surrounded by music and began to hone his craft from a very young age. His talents quickly attracted the music business machine in Nashville, but at the age of 20, he decided to turn down a publishing deal and work on his craft…. he would not take the quick and easy route. In the process of finding great co-writing partners, he befriended Pete Good (producer and co-writer) and AJ Babcock (co-writer) who would go on to become his closest friends outside of the studio. Together, they honed Ratcliff’s musical talent drawing from country, R&B and classic rock to Ratcliff’s personal inspirations such as Stevie Wonder and John Mayer. Eventually, Grammy-award winning producer Shane McAnally teamed up with them, and the result is a bold, fresh look at the seasons of relationships delivered by an artist with a clear point of view and a distinctive sound. Number in My Phone
Brandon Ratcliff Lyrics
You were just pretty handwriting on a napkin
I never thought anything would happen But
I couldn't let it go yeah I had to know
If you were thinkin' bout me like
I was thinkin' bout you
I played it cool for a couple days
But the feeling that you gave
Me never went away
I was hoping that you might pick up
I didn't know that I'd be falling in love
‘Cause you we were just a number in my phone
Til I called you up and we talked
Until you were a first date
Red wine kiss and you were
Staying later every night
Until you were an angel in my bed
Leaving your clothes at my place
You were the best damn thing I
Ever had until you were gone
But, now you're just another
Number in my phone
Just another number in my phone
Baby now I gotta scroll through the photos
Like the one of us kickin' it in SoHo
You couldn't let me go we were so close
Had a fire so bright we
Can dim the city lights
And that history don't just fade away
Can't just hit delete and it's all erased
I ain't saying it was a mistake
But I coulda saved myself a heartbreak
‘Cause you we were just a number in my phone
Til I called you up and we talked
Until you were a first date
Red wine kiss and you were
Staying later every night
Until you were an angel in my bed
Leaving your clothes at my place
You were the best damn thing I
