Love Is on My Side

Oh-oh
Love, love, love, love
Love
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Love
Memories of yesterday
Loneliness my way to say
I needed you and all you do
To come and rescue me
The day I saw your face
Everything fell into place
The melody of you and me
The love song that we share
And they say
Love isn't love
Until you got someone to share it with
And I got you
And it's made me realize that love
Oh, love (oh, love)
Love is something on we take advantage of
Through you, I've learned that love is on my side
I try
But the feeling still flows deep inside
Takes my breath away
When it tries to stay
I only love you more
Oh, don't try to tell me I'm a fool
I know this is something new
Just let me through
I'm here to do whatever you want me to
And they say
Love isn't love
Until you got someone to share it with
And I got you
And it's made me realize (it's made me realize)
That love
Oh, love
Love is something on we take advantage of, oh yeah
Through you, I've learned that, love is on my side
My side (oh yeah)
On my side
Love is on my side
I sit here and wonder why
I can't get you off my mind
A special scent
And all you meant to me
Oh
It's the love that just won't go away
I hear it in the things you say
I can't ignore (I can't ignore)
I want you more (I want you more)
And more
More and more and more (oh yeah)
Until you've got someone to share it with
And now I got you
And it's made me realize (it's made me realize)
That love
Oh, love (oh, love)
Love is somethin' we take advantage of
Oh, yeah
Through you, I've learned that, love is on my side
(Want to share it with)
I need someone to share it with
And it's made me realize (whoa-oh)
That love
Oh, love
Through you, I've learned that, love is on my side
In "Love Is On My Side," Brandy communicates the message that true love requires a partner to share it with. The song starts with her reminiscing about the past: the pain of past heartaches and her need for a companion. Her loneliness seems to have overwhelmed her until she saw the partner she had been waiting for: "The day I saw your face, everything fell into place...The love song that we shared." This person has taught her that the love she's been searching for was close by all along.
Brandy highlights the realization that without someone to share love with, it can't be fully experienced. When she says, "Love isn't love until you've got someone to share it with," she emphasizes the idea of building something meaningful, which requires a team effort. Through the guidance of her partner, she's been able to recognize love in its raw and authentic form, and now she knows that it's on her side.
In conclusion, "Love Is On My Side" is the portrayal of an individual who has experienced the loneliness that results from not having suitable companionship. The song explores the idea that love is more than just a feeling – it requires someone to share the feeling with for it to become fully realized; the person she shares her love with is the missing piece she's been yearning for.
