1) Brazzaville was formed by David Brown in 1998 in Los Angeles, California. While on tour playing saxophone with Beck, David bought an old guitar in Barcelona and began writing the songs for what would be the first Brazzaville album, 2002. Since then Brazzaville has recorded an additional 3 albums, Somnambulista, Rouge On Pockmarked Cheeks and Hastings Street. The original version of the band included many musicians, although the core group consisted of Kenny Lyon, Joe Zimmerman, Joel Virgel-Vierset, Mike Bolger and David Ralicke.
The band has toured the east and west coasts of the US as well as playing shows in Europe, Russia and Kazakhstan.
In 2003 David sold everything and moved to Barcelona. There he formed a new version of Brazzaville consisting of himself, two American expatriates (Ivan Knight and Brady Lynch) and two local boys (Paco Jordi and Richie Alvarez). In 2004, Mimicry Records released a greatest hits record called Welcome to Brazzaville. The band's fifth album, East L.A. Breeze, was released in June 2006, and tracks are currently streaming on their myspace page.

Brazzaville already played the warm-up concerts for artists like Al Jarreau, The Neville Brothers & Marcus Miller. Last summer they played at the biggest Belgian jazz festival; Gent Jazz Festival and toured with Jazzlab Series. In 2007 they won the ‘Young Jazz Talent Ghent’ contest. ‘Days of thunder, days of grace’ best Belgian Jazz Album of 2008 according to the Belgian newspaper ‘Le Soir’.
The band consists of keys: Jan Willems, guitar: Geert Hellings, baritone sax: Vincent Brijs, tenorsax with effects: Andrew Claes, electric bass: Nicolas Rombouts, drums: Maarten Moesen and percussion: Amel Serra.

They were signed to Deaf & dumb Records and in 1996 they released their five track CD Introducing Brazzaville. It was followed in 1998 by the full length album The Girl Is Allright..
Jesse James
Brazzaville Lyrics

He said, “Baby, I’m just 19
I’m as sexy as a ballerina in a magazine
Give me danger and a gun
You know I ain’t afraid of pain
I don’t wanna live your life
I wanna die like Jesse James
“I grew up in a little trailer
On the edge of town
My daddy used to beat me raw
He used to beat me down
And one thing that I learned
When I was barely 17
Was how to kill a full-grown man
When he was half asleep
‘Cause I wanna die like Jesse James…
“So now I’m runnin’ from the cops
And Baby, I’m just 19
I’m as sexy as a ballerina on a TV screen
And I’m happy as a newborn baby
When he sees his mom
And I’m grateful to the bullet
That’s just about to take me home
‘Cause I wanna die like Jesse James…
The song "Jesse James" by Brazzaville is about a young man named Jesse James who is on the run from the police. He is portrayed as a rebellious and charismatic character who seeks danger and thrives on the adrenaline rush of living life on the edge. He wants to die like the infamous outlaw Jesse James, who died in a hail of gunfire while trying to escape the law.
In the first verse, Jesse James declares his fearlessness in the face of danger and his desire to embrace a life of thrill-seeking, which includes having a gun. He also rejects the notion of living a conventional life and wants to embrace his wild side. In the second verse, he reveals that he grew up in an abusive household and learned how to kill when he was only 17 years old. He implies that his upbringing led him down a path of violence and that he is now paying the price for the actions he has taken.
The final verse finds Jesse James coming to terms with his impending death. He is happy and at peace, believing that he will be reunited with his mother in the afterlife. He is even grateful for the bullet that will end his life, believing that dying like Jesse James is the only way to go out in a blaze of glory and be remembered for eternity.
