Breaking Orbit began 2010 supporting Australian music heavyweights such as Cog, Dead Letter Circus and MM9, as well as sold-out home town headlining shows, and an array of trips up and down the east coast of Australia in support of the 2009 EP.
In the first half of 2010, Breaking Orbit began the recording of their debut album at The Grove Studios (Silverchair, The Butterfly Effect) on NSW’s Central Coast with the assistance of Producer Evan McHugh (Dead Letter Circus, MM9) and the bands in-house producer Dylan Mitrovich.
The first tunes released from this recording were on the ‘My Direction’ 3-track single, released in August 2010 and followed by a semi-national tour. Digital sales as well as the limited-run pressing sky-rocketed, 3 months after the release, physical copies have almost expired. Sydney’s Drum Media described the new material ‘Precise Musicianship, gets surprisingly heavy’.Much like the tracks ‘Orion’ and Massive Attack cover ‘Dissolved Girl’ from the 2009 EP, ‘My Direction’ also received airplay on a number of radio networks across Australia, including national radio Triple J.
Despite the loss of a founding member, split with management and various other hurdles thrown in their way, Breaking Orbit continue on their journey more energized and positive as ever towards the future.
In one last bash for 2010, Breaking Orbit release the next installment -‘Callsign’, which will also appear on the yet-to-be-titled 2011 debut.
This will be supported by a short tour in major cities and regional towns in VIC, NSW and ACT in October/November, where Breaking Orbit will bring their renowned energetic, tribal and captivating stage show to fans once again.
The ‘Callsign’ tour marks the wrap up of all things Breaking Orbit for 2010. This will be seen as a short-time farewell as the band prepares to enter into hibernation, to re-appear in mid-late 2011 carting around a long awaited album that is shaping up to be a mighty impressive debut.

You are The Lion
I am under
The spell of Orion
I am The Hunter
You are The Lion
I am The Hunter
I am The Hunter
You are The Lion
I am under
The spell of Orion
In the darkness, the leaves were flying
In the darkness, the man was dying
I am one world
You are another
Closest thing I
Had to a brother
From a scorpion, the wound seemed fatal
You're the one who made me immortal
I am Orion
You're the one who makes me immortal
I am Orion
You're the one who makes me
While outward blindness overcomes
I'll journey east into the sun
I am
I am
I am Orion
(Orion)
Learn to catch my breath again
I've been found by you alone
I am The Hunter
You are The Lion
I am under
The spell of Orion
I am The Hunter
You are The Lion
I am The Hunter
I am Orion
The lyrics to Breaking Orbit's song "Orion" seem to focus on the relationship between two individuals, one being "The Hunter" and the other being "The Lion". The Hunter is under the spell of Orion, which is perhaps a metaphor for feeling drawn to this other person. The chorus repeats this idea, with The Hunter and The Lion being interchangeable, perhaps symbolizing a balance between give and take in the relationship. The Hunter speaks of their relationship as being as close as brothers, which implies a strong and meaningful bond. The Hunter also alludes to feeling immortal because of the other person, which may suggest that they feel invincible when they are together. The song ends with The Hunter expressing a desire to journey east into the sun, implying a longing for new beginnings and optimism for the future.
Overall, the lyrics to "Orion" seem to touch on themes of human connection, immortality, and the power of nature. There is a stark contrast between the darkness of death and the light of the sun, which may symbolize a journey from one state of being to another. The Hunter and The Lion are represented as equals, suggesting that this connection between them is based on mutual respect and admiration.
