1) Breaking Point are an alternative rock band formed in Memphis by singer/guitarist Brett Erickson and guitarist Justin Rimer. They couple straight forward musicianship coupled with well written, heart felt lyrics.
It all started when the founding members decided to jam together. They went to a garage in Memphis and “rocked out”. Then realising the potential they had, soon after they started auditions for a bassist. Greg Edmondson ultimately won out after many, many auditions. Without a drummer during recording the album Beautiful Disorder, they formally recruited drummer Aaron “Zeke” Dauner after the release of the album

Open Wide
Breaking Point Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It?s so nice to remain here
Your life?s been a strange ride
Taking sides
I can reach your mind
It?s all so, it?s so clear now
Must you refrain, no!
So open wide
Cause I have nothing to say to you
Your thoughts are racing
Ride
Taking sides
I can reach your mind
It?s all so, it?s so clear now
Must you refrain, no!
So open wide
I want to bait you, I want to draw you near
Now, your thoughts are racing
Ride
Taking sides
I can reach your mind
It?s all so, it?s so clear now
Must you refrain, no!
So open wide
The song Open Wide by Breaking Point has a very confrontational vibe to it. The lyrics seem to be speaking to someone that the singer has a history with, and they are trying to get this person to open up and communicate with them. The lyrics "It's so nice to see you, it's so nice to remain here" are almost sarcastic in tone, suggesting that the singer might feel differently than what they are outwardly expressing. They acknowledge that this person's life has been a "strange ride" and that they have been "taking sides". However, the singer believes that they can "reach your mind" and that everything is now "so clear". They are urging this person to "open wide" and not hold anything back from them.
The repeated refrain of "taking sides, I can reach your mind, it's all so clear now" seems to suggest that the singer knows something that perhaps the other person does not. Perhaps they have information that will help the situation, but they need the other person to be more open and communicative in order to move forward. The lyrics "I want to bait you, I want to draw you near" are almost manipulative, suggesting that the singer is trying to play games to get what they want. Overall, the song seems to be about an intense desire to connect with someone on a deeper level, but the methods employed could be seen as questionable.
