Be Exalted O God
Brent Chambers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will give thanks to Thee
O Lord, among the people
I will sing praises to Thee
Among the nations
For Thy steadfast love is great
Is great to the heavens
And Thy faithfulness
Thy faithfulness to the clouds

Be exalted, O God
Above the heavens
Let Thy glory be over all the earth
Be exalted, O God

Above the heavens
Let Thy glory be over all the earth

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Brent Chambers's song Be Exalted O God starts with the singer expressing his thankfulness to God among the people and singing praises to Him among the nations. The lyrics then emphasize on God's steadfast love and faithfulness, which are said to be great to the heavens and to the clouds respectively. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase 'Be exalted, O God' to emphasize the worth and greatness of God above the heavens and over all the earth. The overall message of the song is to glorify and exalt God for His immeasurable love and faithfulness.

The lyrics of the song reflect the Psalmist's words in the Bible, specifically Psalm 57:9-11, which reads "I will give thanks to you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!." The song also draws inspiration from Psalm 108:5, which reads "Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!".

AOG. Auckland Town hall days. We sang this Beautiful song. I thought the roof of the building would lift off, such was the presence of The Holy Spirit.
I had/ have never heard Praise & Worship like those days. Singing in The Spirit was Indescribable. I sobbed every Sunday & Tuesday night Prayer meeting services.
It was powerful. No wonder people walking past came in & were saved.
Thank You Lord for those days & Your Spirit moving so powerfully & overwhelmingly.

We had the best times singing this in public square performances many times. The very same instrumentation. There is something powerful that always happens to a city where God is openly exalted and his presence comes. Our cities need this!!
