Do You Love Me
Brian Poole (Formerly Of The Tremoloes) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You broke my heart 'cause I couldn't dance
You didn't even want me around
And now I'm back to let you know I can really shake 'em down

Do you love me?
(I can really move)
Do you love me?
(I'm in the groove)
Now do you love me?
(Do you love me now that I can dance?)
Watch me, now
(Work, work)
Ah,work it out baby
(Work, work)
Well, you're drivin' me crazy
(Work, work)
With just a little bit of soul, now
(Work)
Now I can mash potatoes, I can do the twist
Tell me, baby, do you like it like this?
Tell me
(Tell me)
Tell me

Do you love me?
(I can really move)
Do you love me?
(I'm in the groove)
Now do you love me?
(Do you love me now that I can dance?)
Watch me, now
(Work, work)
Ah,work it out baby
(Work, work)
Well, you're drivin' me crazy
(Work, work)
With just a little bit of soul, now
(Work!)
Now I can mash potatoes, I can do the twist
Tell me, baby, do you like it like this?

The rose coloured spectacles come out again listening to this song. It represents simpler days and many happy memories for those who lived through those times. Of course life was not always happy sometimes it was bloody tough but hearing these guys singing just  keeps us oldies mindful of happy and optimistic thoughts for what was then our futures.

LOL I'm 73, and hearing this music has me dancing around the living room. Yeah. Love it.

It feels a bit strange to discover a group I should've noticed in the 1960s in 2023. It just goes to show that good music stays around indefinitely.

So many great early 60s tracks on Sounds of the Sixties this morning. This is one of the highlights

@hvepsestikket

This song is written by Berry Gordy, Jr. - the man behind Motown. It was a hit in 1962 in Billboards top 100 with "The Contours".
