In the 1980s, Setzer fronted the popular rockabilly band, Stray Cats. Stray Cats caught America's attention with the 1982 album Built for Speed, which included the two Top Ten hits, Rock This Town (#9) and Stray Cat Strut (#3), as well as with the follow-up 1983 album Rant N Rave, which included the two successful singles (She's) Sexy + 17 (#5), and I Won't Stand In Your Way (#35).
In the 1990s, Setzer led a comeback of sorts for swing music and big band music, when he formed Brian Setzer Orchestra. The band has released 5 albums to date and one live DVD. This group had one hit, Jump, Jive, and Wail around the same time songs like the Cherry Poppin' Daddies Zoot Suit Riot had been received favorably in mainstream America.
Brian Setzer also recorded some solo albums during Stray Cats' break in the 1980s along with some in the 1990s. In 2001 he released an album titled Ignition with his band '68 Comeback Special. A new solo album titled Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1: A Tribute To Sun Records was released on July 26, 2005, in the United States.

Blue Suede Shoes
Brian Setzer Lyrics

Three to get ready, now go, cat, go
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Well, you can do anything
But lay off of my blue suede shoes
Well, you can knock me down, step in my face
Slander my name all over the place
But oh, honey, lay off of them shoes
Burn my house, steal my car
Drink my liquor from an old fruit jar
Do anything that you wanna do
But oh, honey, lay off of them shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes, no, no, no
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Knock me down, step on my face
Slander my name all over the place
Do anything that you wanna do
But oh, oh, honey, stay off of them shoes
Yeah, burn my house, steal my car
Drink my liquor from an old fruit jar
Do anything that you wanna do
But oh, oh, honey, stay off of them shoes
Well, it's one for the money, two for the show
Three to get ready, now go, cat, go
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes
No, no, don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Knock me down, step on my face
Slander my name all over the place
Do anything that you wanna do
But oh, baby, stay off of them shoes
Burn my house, steal my car
Drink my liquor from an old fruit jar
Do anything, do anything
Do anything that you wanna do
Do anything, do anything
Do anything that you want to do
But, oh baby, stay off of my shoes
The song "Blue Suede Shoes" by Brian Setzer is a cover version of an earlier Elvis Presley song, written by Carl Perkins. The song is a warning to anyone who tries to mess with the singer's blue suede shoes. The opening lines of the song indicate that the singer is not one to be trifled with, as he counts down to the moment when he will take action. The line "one for the money, two for the show" is a reference to the fact that Elvis Presley used to use this as a call-and-response routine during his performances, using it to get the audience fired up and ready to go.
The main message of the song seems to be that the blue suede shoes are a symbol of the singer's identity and that nobody should step on them or try to take them away. The shoes are so important to the singer that he is willing to take drastic action to protect them, even if it means risking his own safety. The song also touches on themes of pride and self-respect, suggesting that the singer is proud of who he is and is not willing to let anyone else take that away from him.
Overall, "Blue Suede Shoes" is a catchy rock and roll tune with a simple but powerful message about the importance of staying true to yourself and standing up for what you believe in. Its upbeat rhythm and memorable lyrics have made it a classic of the genre and a favorite of rock and roll fans around the world.
