In the 1980s, Setzer fronted the popular rockabilly band, Stray Cats. Stray Cats caught America's attention with the 1982 album Built for Speed, which included the two Top Ten hits, Rock This Town (#9) and Stray Cat Strut (#3), as well as with the follow-up 1983 album Rant N Rave, which included the two successful singles (She's) Sexy + 17 (#5), and I Won't Stand In Your Way (#35).
In the 1990s, Setzer led a comeback of sorts for swing music and big band music, when he formed Brian Setzer Orchestra. The band has released 5 albums to date and one live DVD. This group had one hit, Jump, Jive, and Wail around the same time songs like the Cherry Poppin' Daddies Zoot Suit Riot had been received favorably in mainstream America.
Brian Setzer also recorded some solo albums during Stray Cats' break in the 1980s along with some in the 1990s. In 2001 he released an album titled Ignition with his band '68 Comeback Special. A new solo album titled Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1: A Tribute To Sun Records was released on July 26, 2005, in the United States.

Just Because
Brian Setzer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And just because your momma thinks you're hot
Well, just because you think you've got something
That no other girl has got
You've caused me to spend all my money
You laughed and called me Old Santa Claus
Well, I'm telling you baby, I'm through with you
Well, well, well, there'll come a time when you'll be lonesome
And there'll come a time when you'll be blue
Well, there'll come a time when Old Santa
He won't pay your bills for you
You've caused me to lose all my women
And now, now you say we are through
Well, I'm telling you baby, I was through with you
A long, long, long, time ago
Well, just because you think you're so pretty
And just because your mama thinks you're the hottest thing in town
Well, just because you think you've got something
That nobody else has got
You've caused me to spend all of my money
Honey, you laughed and called me your Old Santa Claus
Well, I'm telling you baby, I'm through with you
Because, well well, just because
In Brian Setzer's song "Just Because," the singer is breaking up with his significant other because she thinks she's hot and has something that no other girl has. He's spent all his money on her and she's laughed and called him "Old Santa Claus." The singer is tired of her actions and is done with her. He warns her that there will come a time when she'll be alone and Santa won't pay her bills anymore. She's caused him to lose all of his women and now she's saying they should break up. However, he's already moved on from her and wasn't even with her for a long time before.
The lyrics speak to the idea of people using others for their own gain while not truly caring about their partner's feelings. The woman in the song is using the singer for money and attention, but he's no longer going to put up with that behavior. The singer also warns her that there will come a time when she won't have anyone to rely on and doesn't seem to feel sorry for her.
Overall, "Just Because" is a catchy and fun rockabilly song that incorporates themes of breakups, money, and self-centeredness. It's a classic breakup song that sets itself apart with its upbeat tempo and rock and roll style.

Close. Yes. Nailed it? No. He's slightly too fast. And I love Setzer and the Stray Cats since 1980.
