Love Like Crazy
Brice Lee Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They called them crazy when they started out
Said seventeen's too young to know what love's about
They've been together fifty-eight years now
That's crazy

He brought home sixty-seven bucks a week
He bought a little two bedroom house on Maple Street
Where she blessed him with six more mouths to feed
Yeah, that's crazy

Just ask him how he did it, he'll say, "pull up a seat"
It'll only take a minute to tell you everything
Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse "I love you"
Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when he quit his job
Said them home computers, boy, they'll never take off
He sold his one-man shop to Microsoft
And they paid like crazy

Just ask him how he made it
He'll tell you, faith and sweat
And the heart of a faithful woman
Who never let him forget

Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse "I love you"
Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get too old to call her "baby"
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when they started out
They've been together fifty-eight years now

Ain't that crazy?

Overall Meaning

Brice Lee's song "Love Like Crazy" tells the story of a couple who have been together for fifty-eight years despite the odds that were against them in the beginning. The song begins with the couple being called crazy when they first started out as they got married at the young age of seventeen. The song then describes their journey through life, where they faced many challenges but still managed to stay together for fifty-eight years. They struggled financially at first, but the man was able to buy a two-bedroom house and provide for their six children with his meager weekly salary of sixty-seven dollars.

The lyrics advise listeners to pull up a seat and listen to the couple's story because it only takes a minute to learn that the key to a long-lasting relationship is being best friends, telling the truth, and constantly telling each other "I love you." The song emphasizes the importance of hard work, common sense, and never letting your prayer life slip away. The couple's success story includes the man quitting his job, and his wife's unwavering faith, which ultimately allowed him to sell his company to Microsoft.

this is the definition of love and a man. i may be 13 but I live by these rules like I am married. I have a job, a bank account, a car(can't drive but I got it) that I help pay for. I grew up as a hard worker and a lover, and I'll die that way.

this song is like the Ten Commandments of Life and need to be followed like they are

Amen and God Bless America

My great grandparents have been together for 80 years. They are 99 and 97. Its crazy. I want there love. I want the hard work and the love that comes from that.

My grandparents got married when she was 19 and he was 26. He was already divorced and had three kids. She brought home $40 a week, and he brought home $80 a week, and that was perfect. He gave her two more kids, one being my dad. They've been married for 45 years now, and I've never seen two people more in love. They even still hold hands walking through stores. It's so beautiful to me. I hope to one day have a relationship like that one day :)
