Bridget St. John Lyrics

Sometimes I think about leaving
And if I had someplace to go
I might even crank up the engine
And roll down a street just for show
Nobody said it was easy
But that doesn't mean it ain't right
I don't want
nobody else with me
When it comes time to call it a night
So far I've kept every promise
A
nd this I'll continue to do
I'll love you like nobody's business
I wouldn't be me without you
I don't need the rain to remind me
H
ow good it feels to come clean
Th
e worst of the past put behind me
A
re spoken words I didn't mean
If I have to tell you I'm sorry
F
or something I shouldn't have done
It won't be for some other woman
W
ho smiles like she thinks I'm someone
So far I've kept every promise
A
nd this I'll
continue to do
I'll love you come hell or high water

I wouldn't be me without you
Oh, I wouldn't be me without you

Overall Meaning

The song "To B Without a Hitch" by Bridget St. John talks about the dilemma of leaving a relationship and the importance of keeping promises in a committed relationship. The lyrics suggest that the person singing the song has contemplated leaving their partner, but they haven't because they love them and value the promises they've made.

The first paragraph talks about the person's desire to leave, but also their lack of direction without their partner. They don't want anyone else to be with them when it's time to call it a night, which suggests a close bond with their partner. They also acknowledge that keeping promises in a relationship isn't easy, but it's important to do so. In the second paragraph, the person talks about their commitment to their partner, using phrases like "I'll love you like nobody's business" and "I'll love you come hell or high water." The person also acknowledges their past mistakes, but assures their partner that it's not because of another woman, implying that they haven't cheated on their partner.

The song overall conveys a sense of deep commitment and love, despite certain doubts and fears. The lyrics suggest that the person values their partner and their relationship, but also feels a certain restlessness and desire to leave. Ultimately, however, they choose to stay, and remain committed to their partner.

"Buttercup sandwich"? Speed up and slowdown guitar picking? Marvelous!

@livioventura5061

What does "buttercup sandwich" mean exactly? I'm not a native english speaker and google hasn't helped exactly, I'm guessing it's not referring to the flower
I know this comment is 5 years old but I'll try asking anyway, who knows

@peterfriedman2830

@@livioventura5061 A slice of bread, some buttercups (small yellow flowers) and then another slice of bread. But does it have some deeper symbolic or cultural meaning? One of life's great unsolved mysteries.
