Looking at the map
Wondering where you be at
'Cause it's so bad when you're not around
You're never around
It used to be you and me
Holding hands, smoldering
Picking up leafs
But now you're not around
You'll never be a rhyme or reason
For when it rolls around to this season
When all the leafs start their turning
And you start to burn again in my brain
I'm falling for you, I'm falling
I can't forget you
Now it's cold and all of the leafs
On all of the trees are falling with me
Down to the ground
And I'm falling for you
You're like a good book
Snuggled up on the sofa
When it's raining outside
But I'm warm 'cause I feel you around
But you're so out of town
I kinda wanna call
But I bet that you're busy
With that fancy new job
And the fall won't affect you
Like how it makes me feel now
October is so overwhelming
And all of my friends they tell me
November it should get better
But I still see you all over the place
I'm falling for you, I'm falling
I can't forget you
Now it's cold and all of the leafs
On all of the trees are falling with me
Down to the ground
And I'm falling, I'm falling
Oh you are like sunshine
With a chance of rain
I love the cool crisp air
And I don't care if you're near
'Cause I feel you like you're here
You're everywhere
I'm falling for you, I'm falling
I can't forget you
Now it's cold and all of the leafs
On all of the trees are falling with me
Down to the ground
And I'm falling, I'm falling
I'm falling for you
"The Fall Song" by Bridgit Mendler is a melancholic pop ballad that speaks about unrequited love and the feeling of missing someone. The song deals with the season, autumn, and how it affects the singer's emotions. The lyrics mention setting the clock back, looking at the map, and wondering where the person she misses could be at that moment. Moreover, the singer talks about how it used to be when they were together, holding hands, smoldering, and talking about getting older. However, things have changed, and the person is not around anymore. The chorus emphasizes the singer's feelings, as she admits that she's falling for this person, but she can't forget them. Autumn is overwhelming for her, and it's hard to move on.
The second verse indicates that the person the singer is missing may have recently taken a new job and be too busy to talk. She's nostalgic about the times they spent together, and the season reminds her of more pleasant memories with this person. Despite her friends' advice about November being a better month, the singer still can't shake the thought of this person, and they seem to be all over the place. The song ends with her restating that she's falling for this person, and even though they're not there, she feels them all around her.
Overall, "The Fall Song's" lyrics are a genuine expression of heartbreak and longing. The song's melancholic tone creates a mood of nostalgia and sadness. The seasonal reference to autumn ties the lyrics together and underscored the theme of change and changelessness.
