A throwback to the flower power era, '60s revivalists Brigitte are a French female duo combining lounge-pop, retro folk, and French cabaret to produce an authentic hippie-chic sound. Named in honor of several of the decade's icons (Bardot, Fontaine, Lahaie), Aurelie Maggiori, who had previously recorded under the name of Mayane Delem, and Sylvie Hoarau, formerly the lead vocalist in Parisian rock band Vendetta, formed their duo in 2008. After recording a cover version of Michel Jonasz's "Les Vacances au Bord de la Mer" for Delem's former bandmate Benoit Petre's film Thelma Louise et Chantal, the pair signed to Wagram Records and released an EP, Battez-Vous, which featured a unique take on Suprême NTM's '90s hip-hop anthem "Ma Benz." Co-written with Franco-Lebanese singer/songwriter Camille Bazbaz and French troubadour Albin de la Simone, their debut album, Et Vous, Tu M'aimes?, was released in 2011. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Me font toujours autant d'effet
Me font toujours autant d'effet
M'aimeras-tu demain?
Et mes lèvres posées sur tes mains
M'aimeras-tu demain?
The lyrics of Brigitte's song A bouche que veux-tu speak of a desire to give in to love and passion, despite the fear and uncertainty that come with it. The opening lines express the singer's impatience and anticipation for the arrival of the person they are enamoured with. They sing of the physical sensations, represented by butterflies in the belly, and ask for the person to come bring relief. The reference to "vin et les chansons d'amour en sucre" (wine and sugary love songs) conveys the intoxicating effect this person has on them.
The next verse reveals the singer's fear of giving in to this attraction and the lack of desire to resist it. They acknowledge that reason is not helping them in this situation and describe the tension between them and the other person, constantly circling each other without making a move. The singer is drawn to the other person's forbidden qualities and intriguing humor, despite this being a dangerous path to follow.
The chorus repeats the phrase "palalalala" multiple times, creating a catchy and memorable hook. The lyrics speak of the inevitability of succumbing to this tempting offer, even though it may lead to 'dangerous paradise', a metaphor perhaps for the risks and consequences that come with giving in to love and passion. The final lines express hope and uncertainty, questioning whether the love will last beyond this night, and whether the other person will still love them tomorrow.
Overall, this song is a celebration of the complexity and allure of love, acknowledging the dangers and risks that come with it. The catchy chorus and poetic lyrics make it a popular and memorable tune.
