According to one of the band members, one day Lise arrived and asked to join the then instrumental band. At first they were very unsure, but it soon turned out that her vocals matched their sound perfectly.
The band's name is derived from the neighborhood where their rehearsal room was located.
They released their debut album Jeans for Onassis i 2000 containing the big hit "Propaganda", and received international attention after they toured as supporting act for A-ha in 2000. They have won a number of Norwegian awards with their music.
In 2003 the band released their second album Tonight, Captain?, which saw declining sales and no big hit singles to match the success of their debut. The third album Jumping on Cars was released in 2005, featuring the hit "Miss You Like A Crazy".
In 2015 the band made a comeback with the single Rookie Mistakes and a number of live shows across Norway.
Berlín
Briskeby Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He came a-knocking, wouldn't let him in
A lousy morning, could have blamed last night
Wish I had a reason, wish I had a fight
It's not my style to moan about the past
Never ever did I want you gone
Did I want you gone
I lost my lover in east Berlin
The love I wanted, wouldn't let it in
I searched the city, I was looking for
I waited forever for the knocking on my door
It's not my style to moan about the past
Never ever did I want you gone
Never ever did I want you gone
Did I want you gone
In Briskeby’s song “Berlin,” the lyrics describe a love story that took place in East Berlin, where the singer met and lost their lover. The first verse begins with the singer describing how they met their lover in east Berlin, with the lover knocking on their door. The singer then reflects on the morning after, feeling regretful and wishing they had a reason or a fight to blame. In the next verse, the singer states that they lost their lover, and although they wanted love, they couldn’t let it in. They searched the city and waited for their lover to come back, but to no avail. The chorus repeats the phrase “never ever did I want you gone,” emphasizing the singer’s desire to have their lover back.
Overall, the song reflects on the complexity of relationships and how it can be challenging to let people in. While the singer desires love, they also struggle with allowing themselves to be vulnerable and open to rejection. The setting of East Berlin adds an additional layer of complexity, as it was a place of political turmoil and division during the Cold War.

@therealrockondon good question, from the same country even dont i know where they all went. I can only speculate: maybe the breakup between Lise and the guys, split up the fans? Some are eager to follow Lises solo career, while to be honest...the rest of the band i havent heared so much of after the breakup. i do think they did the wrong thing, question is: are they to find back together again? I do hope so,this band revolutionized the Synth-Rock genre in Norway in my opinion:)
