Anything Britney tried to release between 2001-2003 had no radio play because Britney chose Pepsi as her sponsor of her 2001 Dream tour instead of Clear Chanel (the owner of 75% of US radio stations) so out of spite, they radio banned her. Any chart success is attributed to Britney’s music videos and performances during this era cos radio wouldn’t play her until the ban was lifted in 2004. Hope this helps.

I think this would have been way bigger post 2007 (Blackout and Confessions). I think that tempo of the beats were alittle bit slower than what I was used to hearing from Madonna and Brittney.

It’s 40 million now, but that doesn’t really matter. This song was HUGE when it came out, it was a #1 hit in like 10 countries, much more than some other songs, for example everytime has 136 million views but it did worse (not by much but still worse) than matm, so there is def something else going on. for some reason it just isn’t as remembered (a live performance with Madonna probably would’ve helped). I personally love the song but I understand why some people have mixed feelings about it, it’s not your average super catchy pop song like toxic, but it was still a hit nonetheless🤷‍♂️
