Perkins and Stevens left the band in 2000, and Felton left in 2004. Stevens released a solo album under the name Roj, and Felton formed the group Seeland with Billy Bainbridge from Plone. After the January 2011 death of Trish Keenan, James Cargill is the only current member of the band.
The band has released five albums in their career: "The Noise Made by People" (2000), "Haha Sound" (2003), "Tender Buttons" (2005), "Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age" (2009, with The Focus Group) and "Berberian Sound Studio" (2013), the soundtrack to the film of the same name. Cargill has stated that plans for an album featuring Keenan's final recordings is in the works.
The band's first releases were singles released on Wurlitzer Jukebox Records ( "Accidentals" ) and Duophonic Records ("The Book Lovers") in the mid-1990s. "The Book Lovers" was also featured on the soundtrack of the film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. They attracted the attention of Warp Records, who compiled the singles in 1997 on "Work and Non Work".
The band was chosen by Matt Groening to perform at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival he curated in May 2010 in Minehead, Somerset, England.
The band's style is a mixture of electronic sounds and Keenan's 1960s-influenced vocals. It is heavily influenced by the 1960s influenced American psychedelic group The United States of America, using many of the same electronic effects. It was also reminiscent of Stereolab. However, despite the similar musical pedigree, Broadcast's music is often darker and edgier in sound – with amorphous samples and analogue dissonance giving it a retro-futuristic sci-fi edge.
On January 14th, 2011, Trish Keenan died from complications caused by pneumonia.

Message From Home
Broadcast Lyrics

That I left for you to read
Or did you throw it away
For passers by to stop and see
And nothing can account for reasons
Why I'd be so mean
Why did I open my mouth
Now the leaves are off the trees
The view is clear this time of year
And as I watch as you go out
I see the breath side from your mouth
And nothing can account
For reasons why I'd be so mean
Why do I open my mouth
Where silence should have been
You never kept the note
That I left for you to read
I know you threw it away
I saw it blow around the streets
And nothing can account
For reasons why I'd be so mean
Why do I open my mouth
Where I know silence should have been
The lyrics of "Message from Home" by Broadcast depict a sense of regret and a longing for reconciliation with someone important. The song addresses a missed opportunity to communicate a message that could have potentially repaired a relationship. The first verse suggests that the singer wrote a note for someone, but is unsure whether or not it was discarded without being read. The second verse relates the passage of time with the changing of seasons, and the singer watching the person leave with a sense of sadness. The repeated refrain, "And nothing can account for reasons why I'd be so mean, Why do I open my mouth where I know silence should have been" serves to emphasize the self-blame and regret that the singer feels for not speaking up when it was most necessary.
One interpretation of the lyrics is that the song could be about a family member or friend who has passed away. The lines "Now the leaves are off the trees, The view is clear this time of year" could suggest the end of autumn, a time when many people might visit the graves of loved ones. The regret felt by the singer for not communicating before it was too late could be a universal feeling experienced by many people who have lost someone they loved.
Overall, the lyrics of "Message from Home" are haunting and melancholy, describing the pain of unexpressed feelings and a missed opportunity for connection. The song's minimalist instrumentation and tender vocals add to the sense of nostalgia and longing that is present in the lyrics.

How Am I Looking?
I'd say share, but hand a person a mix on what they'll love and they'd do better finding themselves. Sad truth. ❤ to Trish. I FOUND YOU!!!

Love the notes and tones she sings in this song especially, the ebb and flow... so unique and otherworldly. she went so abruptly out of this world. I wonder where she was needed....
