There have been at last 2 acts using this name:-
1: Broken English was a British band formed in 1987 by Steve Elson (singer and guitarist), who at the time performed in a The Rolling Stones tribute band. He wrote a song called "Comin' on Strong", which had a Stones sound to it. A friend heard the song and thought it was too good to be a one-off novelty song and encouraged Elson to put together a band and record more material. The first single did reasonably well reaching UK #18, however the two follow-up singles did not fare so well.
Steve Elson - guitarist and singer - now lead singer with The Counterfeit Stones
Jamie Moses - guitarist - performs with Queen + Paul Rodgers, Brian May and Paul Young
Alan Coates - guitarist - performs with the Hollies
Paul Fenton - drums - used to perform with T.Rex
Zak Starkey - drums - Now performs with Oasis
Geoff Cooper - drums - used to perform with The Counterfeit Stones
2: Broken English is an Aborignal rock band from Ngukurr in the Northern Territory, Australia. Consisting of former members of the Yugul Band (1969-75), Broken English gained a following in the 1990s as a premier live hard-rock act. The band's debut album "Studio Sessions" was released on compact disk through Skinny Fish Records in 2001. While Studio Sessions is essentially a country record, Broken English's intense live shows have earned the band a reputation as a hard-rock band. Resultingly, Broken English have largely been ignored by mainstream country and indigenous music media in Australia and globally. The band has achieved a cult following through its renowned live performaces and the tenacity of archivalist listeners who have located a copy of the rare Studio Sessions album.

I honestly never understood why they were never extremely popular - These guys were AMAZING but yet hardly ANYONE nowadays has ever heard of them. it's honestly sad that music as great as this goes unnoticed in society nowadays...😐

The Poor Old Soul
Sounds better than Coming On Strong in my opinion.

A quick addendum to my previous comment. Was wandering where they filmed this and I noted they said it was shot in Nottingham. I'll bet this was the old American Adventure theme park. Visited that place many times during the 90s and have a lot of fond memories there. Pity it has since closed and been bulldozed :(

Nice one, this is to my knowledge the only time this video was shown on UKTV (not sure if MTV on SKY showed it).
Ken Clark
DarkAngel182 it was live on that show and they did not mime.

+Blocked in The UK I think they did appear on the kids TV show "No 73" singing this one, but obviously they were singing it in person (well, miming anyway) so the video wasn't shown.
Adam Massacre
