1. Bronco is a Mexican Grupero group from Apodaca, N.L. Bronco's modern take on the Norteño style in the '80s and '90s helped earn them a number of international hits. Band members José Guadalupe Esparza, Ramiro Delgado, Javier Villareal, and José Luís 'Choche' Villareal crafted a sound that paid tribute to the Norteño tradition while incorporating modern instruments like keyboards, as well as a more melodic, pop style with elaborate costumes.
2. Vocalist Jess Roden, formerly of the Alan Bown Set, instigated the excellent group Bronco in 1970. Kevin Hammond (guitar, vocals), John Pasternak (bass) - both ex-Band Of Joy - Robbie Blunt (guitar) and Pete Robinson (drums) completed the line-up, which made its debut that year with Country Home, ILPS 9124 (not ILPS 9134 which was to be the catalogue number for Nick Drake's next album, "Bryter Layter"). The quintet offered a relaxed, sympathetic setting for the singer's soulful delivery, best exemplified on Ace Of Sunlight, which featured support from Ian Hunter and Mick Ralphs from Mott The Hoople, and Fotheringay's Trevor Lucas. Despite their promise, Bronco was unable to secure a sound commercial footing and the departure of Roden for a solo career effectively killed the group. Blunt subsequently joined Silverhead and appeared in several short-lived aggregations before securing widespread recognition with his work for Robert Plant.

Bronco Lyrics

Yo al ras del suelo
Y tú siempre volando tan alto, tan alto
Te gusta el dinero y la comodidad
Por eso me dejas muy triste
Y herido de muerte, que suerte
Oro
Te has olvidado de lo sentimental
Por un puño de metal
Oro
Oro
Tú me has cambiado por oro
Te has olvidado de lo sentimental
Por un puño de metal
Oro
El amarillo del oro
Te gustó mas de lo que yo te ofrecí
Y ahora tú te vas de mí
Oro
El oro cambió tu amor, oro
The song "Oro" by Bronco is a heart-wrenching tale of a man who fell deeply in love only to be left hurt and alone by a woman who favored material gains over a sentimental connection. The first verse reveals the man's inability to heed advice and his hopeless love for the woman who is always reaching for the sky, chasing after money and comfort. Despite his efforts to win her heart with simple gestures like a comfortable bed and a pillow filled with small dreams, the woman chooses the yellow of gold over the warmth of their relationship. The chorus sings of how her love for money has changed her, leaving the man devastated and alone in the face of her greed. He notes that the love he had to offer was not enough, and her love for him now lies buried in the hole of his empty pockets.
This song is a sad reflection of the way many people choose to place material possessions above love, relationships, and the simple pleasures of life. The singer's resignation to the woman's decision reminds us that sometimes love is just not enough, especially when the other party is more interested in the tangible gains that come with throwing it all away. It also sheds light on the power of money and how it can break even the strongest of bonds.
