Hallelujah

That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Baby, I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor (you know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
There was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do ya?
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah...
Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Well, I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift

The song "Hallelujah" by Brooklyn Duo is a rendition of Leonard Cohen's original song. The lyrics explore the themes of love, faith, and loss, and are complex and layered.
The first verse of the song talks about a secret chord that David played to please the Lord. This is a reference to King David, who is said to have played the harp and sung praises to God. The chord in question is believed to be the "Hallelujah" chord, which is a combination of the fourth, fifth, minor fall, and major lift. The verse then takes a turn, with the singer addressing someone who doesn't care for music. This is a reference to someone who may not understand the spiritual significance of music in general.
The second verse talks about a woman who overthrows a man with her beauty and draws from him the "Hallelujah" - this is a reference to the biblical story of Samson and Delilah. The third verse explores the conflicting emotions of heartbreak and love, and how they can both lead to a "cold and broken Hallelujah". The final verse addresses the concept of love and how it can be both beautiful and destructive - it suggests that love can teach us how to "shoot somebody who outdrew ya."
Overall, the song is a powerful exploration of complex themes and emotions. The lyrics are deep and meaningful and are open to many different interpretations.
