What Do You Mean?
Brooklyn Duo Lyrics

When you nod your head yes
But you wanna say no
What do you mean? Heeey
When you don't want me to move
But you tell me to go
What do you mean?
Said we're running out of time
What do you mean?
Oh oh oh What do you mean?
Better make up your mind
What do you mean?
You're so indecisive of what I'm saying
Trying to catch the beat, make up your heart.
Don't know if you're happy, or complaining.
Don't want for us to end where do I start
First you wanna go to the left and you want to turn right
Wanna argue all day, making love all night.
First you up and you're down and then between
Ohh I really want to know…
What do you mean?
When you nod your head yes
But you wanna say no
What do you mean?
When you don't want me to move
But you tell me to go
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
Said we're running out of time
What do you mean?
Better make up your mind
What do you mean?
You're overprotective when I'm leaving
Trying to compromise but I can't win
You wanna make a point but you keep preaching
You had me from the start won't let this end
First you wanna go to the left then you want to turn right
Wanna argue all day make love all night
First you up and you're down then you're between
Ohh I really want to know…
What do you mean? Ooh.
When you nod your head yes
But you wanna say no.
What do you mean? (oh what do you mean)
When you don't want me to move
But you tell me to go
What do you mean?
I wanna know
Oh what do you mean?
(Ooh)
Said you're running out of time
What do you mean? (ah baby)
Oh oh oh what do you mean?
Better make up your mind
What do you mean?
When you nod your head yes, but you wanna say no
What do you mean?
(You're so confusing baby)
Heyyy, when you don't want me to move,
But you tell me to go
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
Said we're running out of time
What do you mean?
Oh oh oh what do you mean?
Better make up your mind
What do you mean?
The song "What Do You Mean?" by Brooklyn Duo is full of confusion and indecisiveness. The song talks about a relationship where one person gives mixed signals, nodding their head yes while wanting to say no and telling the other person to go while not wanting them to move. The person also seems to be indecisive about their own feelings - not knowing if they are happy or complaining. The singer of the song is trying to understand what the other person means because they are so confusing.
The chorus repeats the question "What do you mean?" which is asking for clarification and a clear understanding of what the person wants. The singer is frustrated and feels like they are running out of time to figure things out. The singer also acknowledges that the relationship is full of arguments, but they still want to make love all night. Despite the confusion, the singer is willing to compromise and find a solution to make the relationship work. The song leaves the listener wondering if the person will finally make up their mind, or if the confusion will continue.

+Alee Domingue Wow, that was quick, thanks! Now I am a total dimwit about music but an octave is 8 notes, right? So 4 octaves... 4 x 8 = 36 keys....? (The other keys are half-notes then, presumably. Like I said, I know nothing. I listen to it a lot, but I know very little.)
nolketessa
+Alee Domingue Yes please! Should you ever find out, I'd really like to know. That's exactly the kind of random facts I can wow my musician friends with :-)
nolketessa
+Alee Domingue Huh? Do pianos have a different amount of keys? (I know nothing at all about pianos, hence the question.) Is there a special reason for that?
