Shattered
Broomtree Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You are the only light I see in all this darkness that I know
You are the one that shelters me
You calm the storm inside my soul
You're alive and you live in me

You make me see things that really matter
You make me feel. Create in me
When all my dreams are shattered
You make me real
I give you all there is to me

With every bit of faith I know

And in this wilderness I see
We plant the seed - you make it grow

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Broomtree's song Shattered seem to be conveying the message of finding hope and light in the midst of darkness and chaos. The singer portrays the idea that despite facing difficult challenges, having faith and a higher power to believe in makes everything bearable. The opening lines "You are the only light I see in all this darkness that I know" set the tone of the entire song. The words highlight how the central character in the singer's life is the one thing that has helped them weather the toughest of storms. The following phrases, "You are the one that shelters me, You calm the storm inside my soul," signify that the person has been there during the most challenging moments and has been a source of comfort and healing.

The chorus of the song goes on to say "When all my dreams are shattered, You make me real." The lyrics reveal how the presence of this person in the singer's life has allowed them to remain grounded and not lose sight of their goals even during the darkest moments. They believe that the connection they have formed with this person has made them a better person, and they willingly give all that they have to offer to maintain this relationship. The final line, "We plant the seed - you make it grow," signifies the idea of hope and faith, looking forward to a positive future, and hoping that the relationship will flourish and grow as time passes.

Sure glad somebody uploaded this to YouTube, this was the soundtrack to my life in 1999/2000, and I no longer have my CD collection with this album in it. Wish whomever it is that owns the rights to Broomtree albums would upload them to the streaming services. Kylie's songs on this album are too good to be forgotten.

I remembered this song (Falling Over Me) from 20+ years ago today while I was sitting on my patio. I used to enjoy it before, but I NEEDED it now. Thank you to the artist(s) that wrote it, and thank you for keeping it alive on YouTube.

What a great album. I saw Broomtree open up for Petra back in 1999. That was the first time I heard of them and I became a big fan. I got to meet Kylie and she wasn't too happy with me when I said she reminded me of Miss Angie. LOL. I guess that wasn't a good thing to say.😂

After playing in a church band for several years, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t like contemporary Christian music. While searching for a more upbeat and edgy alternative, I discovered Broomtree. They were touring with Petra and Jeni Varnadeau. They quickly became my favorite Christian band. I wish they would have made more than 3 albums. Shattered is my favorite song by them.
