Nessun Dorma
Bruce Sledge Lyrics

Nessun dorma
Tu pure, o principessa
Nella tua fredda stanza
Guardi le stelle che tremano
D'amore e di speranza
Ma il mio mistero e chiuso in me
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
Quando la luce splenderà
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
Il silenzio che ti fa mia
ll nome suo nessun saprà
E noi dovrem, ahimè, morir, morir
Dilegua, o notte
Tramontate, stelle
Tramontate, stelle!
All'alba vincerò
Vincerò
Vincerò
The lyrics to Bruce Sledge's song Nessun Dorma are in Italian and they tell the story of a prince who is deeply in love with a princess. He is in her cold chamber, where she is gazing at the stars, filled with love and hope. However, the prince cannot reveal his true identity or his love for her to anyone. He plans to reveal his name only to her when the rising sun shines its light on them, breaking the silence that is keeping them apart. The last stanza is a cry to the stars to fade away and for the night to disappear, as the prince will soon emerge victorious and win the heart of his beloved.
The words of Nessun Dorma, which were originally written by the Italian poet and writer, Michele Carrara, are both beautiful and complex. They convey the depth of emotion that the prince is feeling and the longing that he has to be with his beloved. The song has gained tremendous popularity over the years and has been covered by many artists, becoming almost an anthem in the world of opera. It is a perfect example of how music can transcend language and cultural barriers, touching people's hearts and souls around the world.

I reserve many words for very special usage, and this is magnificent. This was a passionate ending to the movie "The Sum of All Fears", and added a very critical dimension to the film. Bravo.

How I miss hearing about you and Richie hanging out. You were both good friends.

Whenever Puccini wrote this I wonder if he could have imagined a voice such as Bruce’s performing it. Quite possibly the most beautiful piece ever written. Unbelievably moving. ♥️❤️♥️

I was there when Bruce performed this Nessum Dorma. It was a spellbinding end to an otherwise outstanding concert performance. It has been tried by many but this must rate as the best I've heard live. You could hear a pin drop all through the aria, and then the audience stood as one at the end in appreciation of a special moment. Brava

This is normally done with a full orchestra and choir, Here, just piano accompaniment, and it is excellent.
