There's Little Left
Bruno Major Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's little left to sing that's not been sung
No new words to rest on this tongue
There's little left to do that's not been done
There's little left to love, only one

But when it seems the world has lost it's spin
There's always your heart left to win
And there's little left to lose that's not been lost
When Jack last came to freeze the world was frost
And there's little time to sit and stare at all
Not in winter spring or summer or fall

But when it seems the world has lost it's spin
There's always your heart left to win

The sun forgot to rise this morning
The moon was still aglow at dawn
But I'll never be cold or lonely
With your heart, to keep me warm

There's little left to do that's not been done
There's little left to love, only one

But when it seems the world has lost it's spin
There's always your heart left to win

Overall Meaning

Bruno Major's song "There's Little Left" is a song that reflects on the repetitiveness of life and the lack of novelty. Major sings of a feeling of exhaustion where everything has already been done. There are no new experiences and stories to tell. Major seems to be addressing the issue of existentialism, that life can be a meaningless void where nothing new occurs. However, Major points out that even though the world has lost its luster, there is always one thing to hold onto, love.

The first verse echoes the sentiments that there is no new territory, and all has been explored. There is a tone of resignation, almost as if the singer has given up on trying to find something new to say. The second verse continues in the same vein, saying that there is little left to do that has not been done already. The reference to Jack, the notorious character from old English folklore who froze everything he touched, is an allusion to a darker time where the world was barren and cold. The verse then ends with the line, "Not in winter spring or summer or fall," which implies that no matter what the season, nothing new can be found.

Despite this, Major tries to find hope in his relationship by painting a picture of a person who has found love. "But when it seems the world has lost it's spin, there's always your heart left to win." This line expresses the idea that while the world may seem limiting and confined, there is still hope to be found in the love of another person. The final verse speaks to the idea that even the natural world seems to be failing, with the sun forgetting to rise and the moon still a presence at dawn. However, Major finds solace in the idea of this person's heart and ends the song with the line, "There's little left to do that's not been done, there's little left to love, only one."
