Finally, a ballad! That's what that era was known for. Loved the dramatic strings to start us off. This reminds me of Curtis Mayfield or moreso even Smokey Robinson...this sounds like Motown. This all sounds so familiar, like I could even predict where some of those notes were headed.

Bruno's high note runs are exceedingly beautiful. But that bait-and-switch at 3:26 is heavenly.

Anderson's voice and drum fills bring the old, and mesh well with Bruno's voice which sound new

I'm only sad that they didn't end it on a triumphant note at the end. The conflict remains unresolved, ending in that sad minor chord. Bitter-sweet indeed.

Bro, Paak been around for YEARS. And Bruno switched his style from when he came out. That's record labels and production crew. He wasn't all swaggy back then, he was a crybaby love ballad singer. Well, Bruno has the higher range and is considered to be one of the best male vocalists currently, so that credit, you're whining about, is well deserved. However, the revelation here is how good Anderson's voice is after hearing him on Leave the Door open. That raspiness is everything and reminds me of soul singer, Bobby Womack and a few other blues singers. Both deserve credit for their vocals and mastery of their instruments on this project. And credit to Bruno and DMile on production. Kudos to all, not just one.

This song is truly special. You can feel their feelings as they sing. So much passion in their voices. This song makes me cry from the pain they portray in their voices, and from the journey they take us on in the music. It's so beautiful. Underlooked? His last album only won a ton of Grammys and they are still playing his old music at corporate office parties and weddings and u can't get a ticket to a concert because they sell out in hrs

@@anthonytaylor7928 what you’re saying is to do with underrated. I am talking about him being under looked as a musician from a musician point of view. When you ask a singer, guitarist, drummer, or any musician, Unless they are close relative of Bruno, you’ll never hear someone say they look up to Bruno from a musician point of view. Unless you’re a musician you won’t understand what I am saying. Bruno is not underrated by any point but however, he isn’t really looked up to by other musicians as something they want to follow. Most guitarist look up to people like BB King Etc Etc, most drummers looks up to people like John Bonham Etc Etc. Being underrated and under looked are different. Back to my point about how everyone knows who Bruno is (not underrated) but very few musicians look up to him (under looked).

I had to remind myself to breathe....both lyrically and musically, you get so caught up in EVERYTHING : the pain and frustration, then joy and elation, only to be back in the alley gutter dejected in sorrow.

That drum rip into Bruno's balladeering though! I gotta say, it is a pleasure to be musically tortured the way Silk Sonic does so; the arrangements, compositions, song writing, phrasing, (and of course dancing) is incomparable and out of this world!

What I appreciate most is that they are raising the bar to how we think of albums, that they are an audible storyboard for artists. Instant gratification keeps us feeding on single track soundbites rather than trying to digest a whole audio voyage like these cats are taking us on. I like that they are challenging other artists to approach their music in that fashion.

Other artists like Mayer Hawthorne and Tuxedo have been diving into the Motown/RnB revitalization for several years now and Silk Sonic is giving their rendition and giving song writing/composition new meaning. Much Mahalo to Anderson and Bruno for the gift of their musical aloha; I don't think I can do enough to deserve their musicianship.... (cue riotous standing ovation)
