"Ladies and gentlemen,
How 'bout a warm round of applause
For our guest this evening at Club 440, Bryan Duncan"
(Half hearted applause, etc)

"One, two"
(Audience member)
One, two, three
Lies upon lies
Are said to get by, mm, mm, mm, mm
Lies upon lies
Are clouds in the sky
Pretty soon it's gonna rain
You're gonna get those shiny shoes muddy, yeah
Between the fools and the wise
A smile can be a wicked disguise
(scat singing)
Lies upon lies, mmm,
To the wheres and the whys, ha!
Lies upon lies, yeah
Bring tears to the eyes, yes they do, ah
Gonna cry yourself a flood
There ain't gonna be no ark to save ya now, no
Between the fools and the wise
A smile can be a wicked disguise
(scat singing)
Between the fools and the wise
A smile can be a wicked disguise!
A smile can be a wicked disguise!
(scat singing)
Lies upon lies!
(Enthusiatic applause)
In Bryan Duncan's song Lies Upon Lies, the artist talks about the prevalence of lies in our society. The lyrics talk about how lies are used to get by, and how they can be clouds in the sky that will soon cause rain. The song emphasizes the idea that lies have consequences, and that they can bring tears to people's eyes. The lyrics also discuss how a smile can often be a cover-up for something more sinister.
The scat singing in the song adds to the feeling of chaos and confusion that lies can cause. It emphasizes the idea that lies are often nonsensical and difficult to follow, and that they can cause confusion and discomfort for the people who hear them. The song's upbeat tempo and rhythm contrast with the dark message of the lyrics, creating a powerful emotional effect.
Overall, "Lies Upon Lies" is a commentary on the prevalence of lies in our world, and the damage that they can cause. The song is a call for honesty and transparency, and a reminder that the truth is always the best policy.
