Guilty Pleasure
Bryce Vine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I take a couple shots, I'm feeling good again
I told my girl that I was going straight home. (Ya right)
I hope she doesn't see the photos on my phone (Alright!)
I done a couple things you'll never hear about
Like when I passed out, inside an In N Out
I told my momma I was goin straight home
I got arrested climbin' telephone poles (Alright!)
I ain't proud of all of it (Alright!)
But I'd do it all again (Alright!)
'Cause it's all been hella fun
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
I live a life of leisure
Full of guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
It couldn't get much better
Only guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
Still takin' no advice, and telling little lies
Still makin' girls blush, just like in junior high
We made a livin' crashin parties til dawn
My homie fell asleep and totaled my car, (Alright!)
I done a couple things you'll never know about
Some I'm ashamed of, some I forgot about
But I'll be fine, chase time
Runnin' through the stop sign like I'm livin' for the highlights
I ain't proud of all of it (Alright!)
But I'd do it all again (Alright!)
'Cause it's all been hella fun
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
I live a life of leisure
Full of guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
It couldn't get much better
Only guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
Frankly, it's a bad road
Ain't no and's or if's about it
I don't wanna live without it though
So join me at the carnival
All legends die young, so we'll live it how we want
Go!
All legends die young, so we'll live it how we want
Go!
All legends die young, so we'll live it how we want
Go!
I live a life of leisure
Full of guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
It couldn't get much better
Only guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
(Ey!)
I live a life of leisure
Full of guilty pleasure
I can't give a fuck I'm just livin' like, "So what?"
The song "Guilty Pleasure" by Bryce Vine is a self-examination of the singer's own wild and carefree lifestyle, marked by reckless abandon and indulgence in guilty pleasures. The first verse sets the stage with a typical Vegas scenario of losing money and getting drunk. The singer then lies to his girlfriend about going straight home, hinting at a history of infidelity, and hopes that she doesn't find evidence of his misdeeds on his phone. The second half of the verse reveals more shenanigans, including passing out inside an In-N-Out and getting arrested for climbing telephone poles.
The chorus serves as a sort of mantra for the singer, who claims he doesn't regret any of his actions, no matter how questionable. The pleasures he indulges in are guilty but fun, and he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. The second verse continues the theme of making questionable decisions and keeping secrets, including crashing parties and forgetting some of the things he's done. But he remains unfazed, insisting that he's just living for the highlights and doesn't care about the consequences. The repeated refrain of "All legends die young, so we'll live it how we want" adds to the sense of hedonism and disregard for the future.
Overall, "Guilty Pleasure" is a celebration of living in the moment and enjoying the thrill of forbidden pleasures, even if they come with a price. The singer may face repercussions for his behavior, but he's willing to accept them for the sake of having a good time.

I went solo travelling on a coach trip around Europe a few years back, and this was our dedicated song that was played each morning on the coach, as we set off to our next destination. This song is great not just of its own accord, but for the amazing memories it's made :D
