He has released 435 studio albums, four special releases, and one EP. He has also performed on more than 50 other albums by other artists. His music spans many diverse areas such as progressive metal, funk, blues, bluegrass, ambient, and avant-garde music.
Buckethead is famous for wearing a KFC bucket on his head, emblazoned with an orange bumper sticker reading FUNERAL in capital black block letters, and an expressionless plain white mask, which, according to Buckethead, was inspired by his seeing Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. At one point, he changed to a plain white bucket that no longer bore the KFC logo, but subsequently reverted to his trademark KFC bucket. He also incorporates nunchaku and robot dancing into his stage performances.
As an instrumentalist, Buckethead has received critical acclaim for his electric guitar playing, and is considered one of today's most innovative guitarists. He has been voted number 8 on a list in GuitarOne magazine of the "Top 10 Fastest Guitar Shredders of All Time" as well as being included in Guitar World's lists of the "25 all-time weirdest guitarists" and the "50 fastest guitarists of all time". He performs primarily as a solo artist, though he has collaborated extensively with a wide variety of high-profile artists such as Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Les Claypool, Serj Tankian, Bill Moseley, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, That 1 Guy, Bassnectar, and was a member of Guns N' Roses from 2000 to 2004. Buckethead has also written and performed music for major motion pictures, including: Saw II, Ghosts of Mars, Beverly Hills Ninja, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Last Action Hero, and contributed lead guitar to the track "Firebird" featured on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie soundtrack.

Buckethead, i know you probably won't ever see this. But today i got my first ever paid gig, and it was because i played stuff that was heavily inspired by you. You are my biggest inspiration as a guitar player of 15 years. I let my emotions out through my guitar and people loved it so much they decided they wanted me back and to get paid for it. A life dream was achieved today. And i can't wait for the 2nd of July now. Thank you for changing my life. The day i heard this album was probably one of the best days of my life. Thank you for being the biggest inspiration for me, thank you for everything you do for music. Thank you Buckethead. I love you man.

Im 52 and have been drum tech in bands off and on. Mainly for whatever band my best friend of 35yrs sang in. He was something else around here. No one could touch him on any queensryche fates warning king diamond flotsam and jetsam covers. And his originals was phenomenal. He passed away 2016. Crushed and i was away for 3yrs before I could mourn. I was listening to my music app last year and it was this album came up on auto play .i balled crying like a baby. Was in environment for 3yrs where it couldn't go well to be seen crying. Held inside me for long time. Never got to say goodbye. His face came on my screen as Angel monster started playing. He was there i felt his presence. After that day of 10yrs of not playing i decided to get back in wherever i fit in music. Through all those feelings and hardships music was always there for me. Instead of playing drums im doing vocal excercises and im not leaving music until im done in this world. His name was Kent Hester. My best friend more then family. My brother my fuckin every thing. I could vision him putting his vocals to this album. So yeah play with feelings it will always be there for you keep true to it. Bucket head its time for electric tears l l get ray adler of fates warning to contribute. I will gladly help contribute for what u have done for me to be back on path. Paid in full. Do the album and lets rip first show for Ukraine soldiers proceeds to families of Ukraine soldiers. Lets turn this not fuckin around back. Sunshine to every one. Michael Anthony Matthews☀️

I think maybe Buckethead has experienced depression in his life, because some of these tracks embody how it feels to be depressed and lonely. Extreeeeemely emotional album.
