Dont Let Me Down Again
Buckingham Nicks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm the best boy that you ever had
You want to leave now and find a new start
It's gonna kill me if you break my heart
Ooh once you let me down again
Ooh, you're just bound to see the end
I'm gonna make it again someday
There's just one thing I'd like you to know
I got no more to lose if you go
Ooh, once you let me down again
Ooh, you're just bound to see the end
In Buckingham Nicks's song "Don't Let Me Down Again," the singer is begging their lover not to leave them. In the first stanza, the singer explains that they are the best partner their lover has ever had, and if their lover leaves them it will break their heart. The second stanza continues with the singer reassuring their lover that they will make it without them someday, but they want them to know that they have nothing left to lose if they go. The chorus emphasizes the pain that the singer will feel if they are let down again, and warns that it will lead to the end of their relationship.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be a plea for the lover to stay, but also a warning that if they leave, it will be the end of the relationship. The pain of being let down before is still fresh in the singer's mind, and they don't want to go through it again. The song is a raw, emotional plea for their lover to reconsider leaving.

I remember being at this concert. and being COMPLETELY blown away by Stevie and Lindsey. One of my friends that went too still has his ticket stub.

I hate that my wallet with all of my ticket stubs was stolen. God I loved Boutwell Auditorium! Usually 3 strong bands came each time for $8.00. I understand that their popularity in Birmingham, especially K-99, was what helped them connect to Fleetwood Mac.

I was THERE!!! They said that night that Birmingham was their favorite city, and that’s why they ended there. We loved them SO much. We still do-the Buckingham Nicks album is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES! I so wish they would remaster it & make it available.

If Nicks and Buckingham had not to joined the mac I think they would have become much bigger eventually. Just too much talent to go unnoticed. After all they only had one album out (which probably wasn't heavily supported by their label) and it appears they were already attracting a lot of regional interest.

We all recognize that both are world-class vocalists and song-writers. We should also recognize that on most of their songs, Lindsey's guitar riffs draw listeners in from the beginning. Because of Lindsey's broad musical talents, especially on guitar, they both made the big time.
