Getting Kinda Lonely
Bucks Fizz Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I think of you at all
The memories lie, lonely shadows fall
It hurts me so
Now the darkness covers me
And empty spaces where you used to be
Where did you go?
I thought I could live without your love
But thatā€™s just something I canā€™t fight alone

Ooh, itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Now that youā€™re away to stay
Aah, itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Now that youā€™re away
But I never thought Iā€™d get to say
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely

The sound of footsteps on the stair
Those old familiar feelings in the air
I think of them
Memories fade but never die
So baby youā€™ll forgive me if I cry
Come home again
I thought I could take a heart inside
But it would never know how much I cry

Ooh, itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Now that youā€™re away to stay
Aah, itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely
Now that youā€™re away

But I never thought Iā€™d get to say
Itā€™s getting kinda lonely

Jay Aston was then, and still is now, quite lovely. Nice showcase for her lead vocal. These four could handle most any kind of music, and RCA's failure to promote them well here in the US borders on the criminal. Got a copy of their Ultimate Anthology CD; great stuff.

Las dos versiones son excelentes. El arreglo musical de Bucks Fizz es mas de principios de los ochenta y el de Melissa tiene un toque mas de balada pop de mediados de los ochenta.

I've never forgotten this! It was Stan Boardman broadcasting from an oil rig. Bought the debut album and always loved a bit of Jay Aston. She always stood out for me performing. There was definitely a bit of depth going on there. Love it.
