Breakfast @ Denny's
Buckshot LeFonque Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here I go
I'm sippin' on Bacardi from the night before
There she goes
She's laughin' with a guy she's never met before
She wants Maybach limousines, breakfast at Tiffany's
I know I've seen her on the front page of TMZ
A twenty says she follows me outside the door
Shwayze Verse:
She like me for all the wrong reasons
Her mind change like the four seasons
Trip to Vegas just for the weekend
Jet to Tao Beach to the Palm no sleepin'
She goin' to stay if she say she leavin'
So babe, when you leavin'?
(Don't leave)
Mind games in a short time frame
Stop bein' lame and take off your tang top
(Right now)
We aint' gotta rush though
Aint in love but I gotta crush yo
Expensive taste but I came up soon
Won't buy sex but I'll pay for the room
Flash cars, diamond rings, drivin' fast in the diamond lane
From the covers of my sheets to the covers of the magazines

Here I go
I'm sippin' on Bacardi from the night before
There she goes
She's laughin' with a guy she's never met before
She wants Maybach limousines, breakfast at Tiffany's
I know I've seen her on the front page of TMZ
A twenty says she follows me outside the door

Louie Verse:
One shot with a side a lime
Body shots, who's in line?
Next up, no Patron
Don Julio is a friend of mine
Three more, I'm up to no good
Crashing parties in Malibu
Turn it up all night long
They love to sing along
She's another material girl
Diamonds, caviar, and pearls
Trust us, we've seen them all
Island hopping around the world
Not me, I don't mind
I just think we're two of a kind
Taking pictures all night long
She loves to sing along

Here I go
I'm sippin' on Bacardi from the night before
There she goes
She's laughin' with a guy she's never met before
She wants Maybach limousines, breakfast at Tiffany's
I know I've seen her on the front page of TMZ
A twenty says she follows me outside the door

Lex Verse:
She a fan cause my song is classic
She into yoga so gymnastic
Got cash but she's so plastic
But that's what keeps me laughin'
She's a model
She's a singer
She's an actress
Cause she's attractive
Her moms a cougar I got catnip
Summer in Ibiza, let's take that trip
Walk past paparazzi for close-ups
Chateau Marmont for mimosas
Yeah
She just want to be seen
With the new, heart throb on E!
Her friends want to party at the lake house
Jet ski, sun tan, and make out
Pull cake out, it's my turn
She going from red carpets to carpet burns

Here I go
I'm sippin' on Bacardi from the night before
There she goes
She's laughin' with a guy she's never met before
She wants; Maybach limousines, breakfast at Tiffany's

I know I've seen her on the front page of TMZ
A twenty says she follows me outside the door

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Buckshot LeFonque's "Breakfast @ Denny's" paint a picture of a hedonistic lifestyle with a focus on physical pleasures and material possessions. The verses are spoken from the perspective of different men who are all attracted to a woman who seems to be seeking a life of luxury and fame. The first verse sets the scene with one man drinking Bacardi from the night before and observing the woman as she laughs with a stranger. He notes that she wants Maybach limousines and breakfast at Tiffany's, indicating that she is drawn to expensive things and the glamor of high society. The Shwayze verse continues this theme, portraying the woman as someone who changes her mind frequently and seeks out indulgent experiences like trips to Vegas and jetting off to exclusive beach clubs. He acknowledges that she has expensive taste, but that he is still drawn to her. The Louie verse describes various party scenes and implies that the woman is just one of many who seek out experiences that are fueled by alcohol, status symbols, and attention from the paparazzi. Finally, the Lex verse focuses on the woman's physical attractiveness and her desire to be seen with someone like him. He notes that she is a model, singer, and actress, and that her mother is a "cougar." Despite her superficiality, he is still amused by her, and he seems to be willing to indulge her luxury-seeking lifestyle for a time.

Overall, the lyrics of "Breakfast @ Denny's" suggest that there is a certain allure to a life of excess and pleasure-seeking, but that it ultimately leads to emptiness and dissatisfaction. The men in the song are all attracted to the woman because she represents a certain kind of lifestyle that they find exciting, but they also seem to recognize that she lacks substance and that her desires are ultimately unfulfilling. It's also worth noting that the title of the song, "Breakfast @ Denny's," seems to be a deliberate contrast to the type of luxury and exclusivity that the rest of the lyrics focus on. Denny's is a chain restaurant that is known for its affordable, no-frills breakfast options, so the juxtaposition of this with the other images in the song creates an interesting tension.

Goddammit Stan

My dad had this when I wasn't even ten, I loved the whole album but this track stuck way out to me. Planted seeds of jazz and hiphop love that didn't properly bloom for three decades. Love this shit

I remember listing to this a lot when I was about 13. This has brought back a lot of memories. Love this song , love this album, love this man, he's amazing. I also like the the Jerseys he's wearing very cool.

Shadow

Had a similar experience at one in South Carolina on the way to a performance.
My buddy and I sat there for about 20 minutes watching people come in after us get their orders taken.
Not a single waitress even looked our way. It was like we were invisible.
We finally decided that if they didn't want 'our' money - to hell with them, and we walked out.
And this was in the late 90s. Damn shame.
Peace
