Cody recently got engaged, and while congratulations are in order, his newly betrothed has kept him from hanging out with his buddies.

Now we ain't seen him in three damn weeks
The upshot of Cody's engagement is that his friends haven't seen him for three weeks.

Despite the fact that there are important games on TV tonight, Cody still doesn't show up to hang out with his friends.

So I called him up but he didn't sound right
When I called Cody, he seemed off or distracted, like he didn't really want to talk.

I said we gonna smoke some pricey cigars
I tried to tempt Cody to come out and hang with the promise of expensive cigars.

And I found that beer from that Alabama bar
I even hunted down some rare beer from an Alabama bar to try and tempt Cody to come out.

And I got it cold and the burgers are hot
I made sure that the food and drinks were all ready for when Cody showed up.

Better come on soon 'fore the food's all gone
We're keen to see Cody soon, because the food and drink might not last forever.

He said "Y'all just go ahead and watch that game
When Cody finally answered, he basically told us to go on without him and watch the game.

'Cause she wants to watch the Hallmark movie at 8"
The reason Cody is staying home is because his fiance wants to watch a Hallmark movie at 8 PM.

This situation is absurd and annoying for the guys who are waiting for Cody.

Gonna need that man card, hand it over
Cody needs to hand over his 'man card' (his symbol of masculine pride) as he's shown himself to be whipped by his fiance.

Cody's friends are teasing him for his whipped behavior.

Cody has been spending all his time with his fiance and his friends are annoyed that they never see him anymore.

Now you're saying your boys can't get just one
Cody is denying his friends the chance to hang out, even though it's just one night.

Cody's friends think that he's been neutered by his fiance and doesn't have any freedom or independence anymore.

Cody might be in denial, but his friends believe that they're speaking the truth about his whipped behavior.

While Cody's fiance probably enjoys cuddling with him, his friends think it's not worth giving up his independence and time spent with them.

Cody needs to show up to hang out with his friends or face the consequences.

When Billy saw a gun that he couldn't believe
One of Cody's buddies, Billy, found a gun at the gun show that he was really excited about.

The gun that Billy found was made by Winchester and was in excellent condition.

I told him looks like our shopping is through
Cody told Billy that they wouldn't have to look any further for a good firearm, thanks to the Winchester gun he'd found.

He put it back down and said "Yeah right"
Despite Cody's assurance, Billy didn't believe that he could buy the gun without his wife's permission.

I don't know how I'd get it past the wife
Billy worries that his wife wouldn't approve of him buying the Winchester gun he found at the gun show.

You saying you can't spend the money that you made
Cody is confused that Billy thinks he can't spend money that he's earned (since he's not married and doesn't have anyone to answer to).

The Lord gave you balls, didn't He son
Cody reminds Billy that as a man, he has the God-given right to be bold and independent.

Now swipe that card and get you a gun
Cody urges Billy to buy the gun he wants, regardless of whether his wife would approve or not.

That 30-30 ain't gone do no harm
Cody reassures Billy that even if the gun he wants (a 30-30) isn't the most powerful, it's still useful and won't hurt anyone.

If you don't buy the gun right now
Cody thinks that Billy needs to act fast before he talks himself out of buying the gun he wants.

If Billy doesn't buy the gun he wants, Cody will once again take away his man card.

Now I let my wife do whatever it is that she wants
Cody admits that he's not as independent as he used to be, since he's now married and has to answer to his wife.
