Guy is known for his showmanship; for example, he plays with drumsticks and walks into the audience whilst playing, the latter being a gimmick he picked up from a local blues guitarist at an early age (joining or leaping into the audience has also long been common in both American popular and gospel music, as in the earlier work of Big Jay McNeely or the Dixie Hummingbirds).
Guy grew up in Louisiana where he learned to play guitar. In the early 1950s he began performing with bands in Baton Rouge. Soon after moving to Chicago in 1957, Guy fell under the influence of "Mighty" Muddy Waters. In 1958 he won a record contract with Artistic Records after beating the West Side guitarists Magic Sam and Otis Rush in a "Head Cutting Contest" at the Blue Flame Club. Soon afterwards he recorded for the Cobra label.
In the early 1960s, Guy was a session guitarist for Chess Records. He recorded on Junior Wells sessions for Delmark Records under the pseudonym Friendly Chap in 1965 and 1966. His career took off during a blues revival period in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was sparked by Eric Clapton's request that Guy be part of the '24 nights' all-star blues guitar lineup at London's Royal Albert Hall and Guy's subsequent signing with Silvertone Records.

You got my nose open baby
Ahhh Huhuhu
You got my nose open woman
But, I got my eyes on you
You got me weepin' and moanin'
Got me weepin' and moanin'
Oh yes
You got me weepin' and moanin' woman
But I got my eyes on you
Look-a-here
Got my nose open baby
You got my nose open woman
Uh ohohooo yeah
Got my nose open baby
But, I got my eyes on you
In Buddy Guy's song "I Got My Eyes on You," the singer describes being enamored with a woman who has captured his attention. He declares that she has his "nose open," meaning that he is captivated by her and cannot resist her charms. He then goes on to say that she has him "weeping and moaning," indicating that he is deeply affected by her and unable to contain his emotions. However, despite being under her spell, he maintains that he still has his "eyes on her."
The lyrics of the song suggest that the singer is deeply in love with this woman but is also aware of her potential to cause him heartache. By saying that he has his eyes on her, he could be indicating that he is watching her closely, perhaps out of concern that she may betray him. The repetition of the phrase "Got my nose open" and "You got me weepin' and moanin'" conveys the intensity of his emotions and his inability to resist this woman's magnetic pull.
Overall, Buddy Guy's "I Got My Eyes on You" is a passionate expression of love and desire. It showcases the singer's raw and emotional delivery and has become a beloved classic in the blues genre.
