Party Doll
Buddy Knox Lyrics

Well, all I want is a party doll
To come along with me when I'm feelin' wild
To be everlovin' and true and fair
To run her fingers through my hair

Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
I'll make love to you, to you
I'll make love to you

Well, I saw a gal walkin' down the street
The kind of a gal I would love to meet
She had blonde hair and eyes of blue
Baby, I'm a-gonna have a party with you

Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
I'll make love to you, to you
I'll make love to you

Ev'ry man has gotta have a party doll
To be with him when he's feelin' wild
To be everlovin', true, and fair
To run her fingers through his hair
To run her fingers through his hair

Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
I'll make love to you, to you
I'll make love to you

Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
Come along and be my party doll
I'll make love to you, to you
I'll make love to you
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

Saw him perform this live back around 1957. My first 'rock' concert. Been a fan of Buddy Knox ever since.

Lucky you. That was long before my parents even knew each other.

Love it! Classic track from the time when Rock was at it's best. I was 12 years old in '57. My older sister was learning to Jive and spent hours dancing round the room, whilst playing the record. I bet she would do the same now if she hears this song. People say the 60's were the greatest years, but I think the 50's were the best.

In the '50's people danced. In the '60's they only listened to the music. The art of movement was lost.

I was 19 years old, 1957 in the Air Force, stationed in Antigo, Wisconsin, listening to this and having a great time. Left Wisconsin for Korea but have always remembered this song and the good times it rerpresented.

Tom,
Where was the base’s location in Antigo? I’m from north of that area, and I drive through often.

My dad (who was born in β€˜43) had this 45.

To paraphrase the great Buddy Holly, I hope tunes like this never fade away. A top five hit in the US sixty years ago this week, β€œParty Doll” was one of those splendid old rock β€˜n roll standards that set the stage for all that came later. Buddy Knox is superb throughout this hit for three reasons - his distinctive, bel canto vocals, his Scotty Moore-influenced guitar picking, and his superlative vocal and instrumental phrasing. If this were a song placed in the pages of the Bible, you would find it in Genesis.

....but true. Read my original post directly below and learn more about him.

That is incredible!
