questions
Buffalo Springfield Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where are we going love?
What are you feelin'?
Now that I've caught my love
My head is reelin',

With the questions of a thousand dreams,
What you do and what you see.
Come on lover, talk to me.

When I was on my own
Chasin' you down,
What was it made you run.
Tryin' to get around

The questions of a thousand dreams,
What you do and what you see.
Come on lover, talk to me.

Now that we've found each other
Where do we go now?
I'd like to know what you're thinkin'.
Answer me slowly now

The questions of a thousand dreams

What you do and what you see.
Come on lover, talk to me, yeah.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Buffalo Springfield's song "Questions" seem to have been written after the singer has caught the attention of his love interest. The songwriter seems to have a lot of unanswered questions and is looking to his lover to share her thoughts and feelings with him. The first verse starts with an open-ended question "Where are we going love?" and asks how she feels now that she is with him. Although he has caught her love, the songwriter's head is reeling with the questions of a thousand dreams, not knowing what his lover does or sees.

The chorus is a plea for his lover to open up to him and talk to him. In the second verse, the songwriter reflects on his past behavior, chasing his lover down, and trying to understand what made her run in the first place. The final verse is a continuation of the first, now that they have found each other, they need to think about where they go now. The writer calls on his lover to share her thoughts and feelings slowly with him.

Stills is a genius...and the bass on this song is just filthy. Thanks for uploading this.

Stills' bass sound McCartney-esque.

Tom Mustin

That’s Bruce Palmer.

@Tom Mustin U R right. RIP

Jim Messina was the bass player on this one. Per Jim Messina. Remember too- Jim Messina replaced Bruce Palmer as Buffalo Springfield's bass player when Bruce Palmer returned to Canada. Jim Messina Produced this "Last Time Around" album too. Just sayin'- I asked Jim Messina who played bass on "Questions" and he told me he did.

Officially Stills is credited with everything on the song except drums. Very much like the first CSN album. The man is a musical acrobat.
