Seen It All
Bugg Jake Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One Friday night I took a pill or maybe two
Down at the car park I saw everyone I knew
And before the night had started we had planned to crash a party
Just a place that someone knew a local house belonging to a gangsters crew
And at the door they shone a light into my face
Have to admit I felt a little out of place
But I made my way inside past a thousand crazy eyes
Then a friend took me aside said everyone here has a knife

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now
I swear to god I've seen it all
Nothing shocks me anymore after tonight

Those little doves had sent my mind and heart a-beating
To say I felt weird really doesn't need repeating
I could sense the mounting tension the atmosphere of violence
And then they took a guy out side and someone stabbed him with a knife

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now I swear to god
I've seen it all nothing shocks me anymore after tonight

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now
I've seen it all,
I've seen it all now I swear to god

I've seen it all nothing shocks me anymore after tonight
I've seen the light but not the kind I would have liked

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bugg Jake's song "Seen It All" depict the experience of a person who went to a party with friends and took some drugs. Later, they discover that the party is being held at the local house belonging to a gangster's crew. Initially, the person feels out of place but eventually makes their way inside past many bizarre and aggressive individuals. The mounting tension and atmosphere of violence make the person uncomfortable, and they witness someone being stabbed outside. The overall experience leaves the person feeling as though they have seen everything and nothing can shock them anymore.

The song is a reflection of the experiences that young people often have with drugs and parties. The lyrics allude to the dangers of such gatherings as they can lead to violence, and individuals can easily get caught up in the situation. The use of drugs, mob mentality, and the presence of dangerous individuals can create an uneasy and hostile environment that puts one's life in jeopardy. The song also touches upon the idea that experiences like these can leave a lasting impression on a person's worldview.

One Friday night I took a pill or maybe two
On a Friday night, I consumed one or perhaps two pills.

Down at the car park I saw everyone I knew
At the parking lot, I ran into folks I recognized.

And before the night had started we had planned to crash a party
Long before we began celebrating, we had made arrangements to gatecrash an event.

Just a place that someone knew a local house belonging to a gangsters crew
We selected a location for the party which was a house owned by a gangster's gang.

And at the door they shone a light into my face
The people watching over the entranceway directed a lamp at my countenance.

Have to admit I felt a little out of place
I must admit to feeling somewhat uncomfortable and out of place.

But I made my way inside past a thousand crazy eyes
However, I proceeded inside, maneuvering around hordes of wild stares.

Then a friend took me aside said everyone here has a knife
A pal took me aside and informed me that every person present, without exception, was carrying a blade.

I've seen it all
I've witnessed everything.

I've seen it all now
I have witnessed everything up to this point.

I swear to god I've seen it all
I solemnly affirm that I have seen everything.

Nothing shocks me anymore after tonight
After this evening, I am no longer capable of being surprised.

Those little doves had sent my mind and heart a-beating
The pills I had ingested caused my mind and emotions to race.

To say I felt weird really doesn't need repeating
It goes without saying that I was in a peculiar state after imboding the pills.

I could sense the mounting tension the atmosphere of violence
I could detect the increasing nervousness and violent vibes in the air.

And then they took a guy out side and someone stabbed him with a knife
Suddenly, they pulled a person outside, and someone brandished a knife in their direction.

I've seen the light but not the kind I would have liked
I have learned something new, but not the kind of knowledge I would have preferred.

One friday night, I took a pill or maybe two
Down at the car park, I saw everyone I knew
And before the night was started
We had planned to crash a party
Just a place that someone knew
A local house belonging to a gangster’s crew

And at the door they shone a light into my face
Have to admit I felt a little out of place
But I made my way inside
Past a thousand crazy eyes
Then a friend took me aside
Said everyone here has a knife

I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more after tonight

Those little doves had sent my mind and heart a-beating
To say I felt weird really doesn't need repeating
I could sense the mounting tension
The atmosphere of violence
And then they took a guy outside
And someone stabbed him with a knife

I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more after tonight

I've seen it-all, I've seen it all now
I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more
After tonight I’ve seen the light
But not the kind I would’ve liked

This song caused the biggest butterfly effect in my life.
I remember being 12 (I'm 19 now) when that song came up on MTV and I just completely fell in love with music.
That's why I bought my first guitar and that's why I'm a musician today.
Jake Bugg will always be my favorite artist.
