It's All Right
Buggs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One Friday night I took a pill or maybe two
Down at the car park I saw everyone I knew
And before the night had started we had planned to crash a party
Just a place that someone knew a local house belonging to a gangsters crew
And at the door they shone a light into my face
Have to admit I felt a little out of place
But I made my way inside past a thousand crazy eyes
Then a friend took me aside said everyone here has a knife

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now
I swear to god I've seen it all
Nothing shocks me anymore after tonight

Those little doves had sent my mind and heart a-beating
To say I felt weird really doesn't need repeating
I could sense the mounting tension the atmosphere of violence
And then they took a guy out side and someone stabbed him with a knife

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now I swear to god
I've seen it all nothing shocks me anymore after tonight

I've seen it all
I've seen it all now
I've seen it all,
I've seen it all now I swear to god

I've seen it all nothing shocks me anymore after tonight
I've seen the light but not the kind I would have liked

Overall Meaning

The song “It’s All Right” by Buggs describes a night of drug-fueled partying that ends in violence. The first verse sets the scene, with the singer taking drugs and going to a party with friends. The second verse takes a darker turn, with the singer sensing mounting tension and violence in the air. The final lines of the song suggest that the violence culminates in a stabbing, and the singer is left feeling disillusioned and traumatized.

Overall, the lyrics seem to be exploring themes of disillusionment and detachment. The singer has seen too much, and nothing shocks them anymore. The use of drugs adds an element of escape and unreality, while the violence and danger create a sense of tension and unease.

Interestingly, the lyrics are somewhat ambiguous, leaving room for interpretation. It’s unclear whether the singer is a participant in the violence, a witness, or simply caught up in the chaos. This ambiguity adds to the sense of detachment and disorientation in the song.

One friday night, I took a pill or maybe two
Down at the car park, I saw everyone I knew
And before the night was started
We had planned to crash a party
Just a place that someone knew
A local house belonging to a gangster’s crew

And at the door they shone a light into my face
Have to admit I felt a little out of place
But I made my way inside
Past a thousand crazy eyes
Then a friend took me aside
Said everyone here has a knife

I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more after tonight

Those little doves had sent my mind and heart a-beating
To say I felt weird really doesn't need repeating
I could sense the mounting tension
The atmosphere of violence
And then they took a guy outside
And someone stabbed him with a knife

I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more after tonight

I've seen it-all, I've seen it all now
I've seen it all, I've seen it all now
I swear to god I’ve seen it all
Nothing shocks me any more
After tonight I’ve seen the light
But not the kind I would’ve liked

This song caused the biggest butterfly effect in my life.
I remember being 12 (I'm 19 now) when that song came up on MTV and I just completely fell in love with music.
That's why I bought my first guitar and that's why I'm a musician today.
Jake Bugg will always be my favorite artist.
