A Place Where You Belong
Bullet for My Valentine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're gone!
Your body's cold
Hope is lost, I can't let go
Can I die with you,
So we can never grow old?
With this note you left behind
As I heed the words I hear you telling me why
Too late, too late
I never said goodbye
Too late, too late
Can't even ask you why
And now I'm wasting away
In my own misery
I hope you've finally gone,
To a place where you belong
My sadness shows,
As your name is carved in stone
Can't erase the words so the reality grows
I wish I died (I wish I died)
On that night right by your side
So just kill me now and let the good times roll
Too late, too late
I never said goodbye
Too late, too late
Can't even ask you why
And now I'm wasting away
In my own misery
I hope you've finally gone
To a place where you belong
Will you wait for me? (Will you wait for me?)
Will I see you on the other side?
You won't have to wait too long
Yeah
Will you come to me? (Will you come to me?)
Will you take me to the other side?
'Cause here I don't belong
Too late, too late
I never said goodbye
Too late, too late
Can't even ask you why
And now I'm wasting away
In my own misery
I hope you've finally gone
To a place where you belong
I never said goodbye
Can't even ask you why
I'm wasting
Away in my own misery
I hope you've finally gone
To a place where you belong
The lyrics of Bullet for My Valentine's song "A Place Where You Belong" seem to describe the immense pain and sorrow of losing someone dear. The opening lines "You're gone, you're gone" immediately establish the anguish of the singer's loss, while the lines "your body's cold, hope is lost, I can't let go" further emphasize the feeling of hopelessness and despair. The singer wishes to die with the departed person so that they never have to grow old without them. The line "cut the ties" could mean that the singer wants to cut off all their ties with the world and join their loved one in death.
The chorus of the song repeats the lines "too late, too late, I never said goodbye, too late, too late, can't even ask you why" which suggest that the singer was not able to express their feelings and regrets before the person's death. The lines "I'm wasting away in my own misery, I hope you've finally gone to a place where you belong" convey the singer's wish that the departed person has gone to a better place and that they find some solace in that thought.
Overall, the song is a poignant depiction of the emotional turmoil associated with the loss of someone close. It showcases the feeling of regret and the wish to be with the loved one again, even if it entails dying.
