Breaking Out
Bullet for My Valentine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We could blame the world forever
We could just escape together
So are we breaking out, or are we breaking down
We can't blame this world forever (This world forever)

The end will never come
There's still a mountain left to climb
But we will overcome the hurdles placed inside our minds
(So close, but still so far)
Each day will bring us a brand new stars
(What are we fighting for)
We cannot live like this no more
'Cause in the thick of darkened days, we know

We could blame the world forever
We could just escape together
So are we breaking out, or are we breaking down
We can't blame this world forever (This world forever)

Just need some clarity, can't seem to open up these eyes
For what your sympathy it took me time to realize
(This is not what I want)
Or how I thought this life would be
(This is not what we wanted)
So take this shit away from me
'Cause in the thick of darkened days, we know

We could blame the world forever
We could just escape together
So are we breaking out, or are we breaking down
We can't blame this world forever (This world forever)

So are we breaking out, or are we breaking down
I guess what's done is done
But we will overcome

We could blame the world forever
We could blame the world forever
We could just escape together
So are we breaking out, or are we breaking down
We can't blame this world forever (This world forever)

'Cause in the thick of darkened days
We know

Overall Meaning

The song "Breaking Out Breaking Down" by Bullet for My Valentine is a powerful expression of the struggle to find freedom from the pressures of a world that seems to be closing in. The lyrics suggest that it is easy to blame the world for our problems, but ultimately that approach is not productive, as it does not offer any real solutions. Instead, the song encourages the listener to take action, to either break out or break down, but to move forward with a clear sense of purpose.

The first verse sets the tone for the song, with its stark contrast between blame and escape. The singer is faced with a choice: to keep blaming the world for the problems they face, or to try to escape from it all together. However, this is not an easy decision, as there is still a long way to go before the journey can be complete. The second verse expresses the challenges that still lie ahead, with the mountain that must be climbed and the hurdles that must be overcome. But there is hope, as each day brings new opportunities to grow and to shine.

The chorus brings the message home, with its emphasis on the need to take action. Blaming the world forever is not a productive way to deal with problems, and the only way to move forward is to either break out or break down. The final line of the chorus emphasizes the urgency of the situation, as it reminds the listener that the world will not wait forever. The bridge is a cry for clarity and understanding, as the singer struggles to come to terms with a life that is not what they thought it would be. But ultimately, the song ends on a note of triumph, as the chorus is repeated with even more intensity and resolve.

"Breaking Out"

We're breaking out!
We're breaking out!
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
We're breaking out
Breaking out

Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh

Stop crawling on a broken road
No signs of liberty
Hope fading as these streets corrode
Into anonymity

We gotta run or we'll decay
This can't wait so fuck tomorrow
We'll never quit, never walk away
Don't wanna be here, ain't gonna take it

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh

Again we're told to bite our tongues
Like no one's listening
They turn their backs, they shut us down
With their negativity

We gotta run or we'll decay
This can't wait so fuck tomorrow
We'll never quit, never walk away
We stand for something, we stand for nothing

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
So we're breaking out
Breaking out

We need to be the renegades (or we'll suffocate)
We can't get back and we can't stand and hesitate
Left drowning in the acid rain (or this hurricane)
Let's find a place with no more, no more barricades

Break it, break it, break it
Don't wanna be here
Break it, break it, break it

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
So we're breaking out
Breaking out

Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
Breaking out
We're breaking out

Bring me a cape. ;) And start singing:

We're breaking out!
We're breaking out!
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
We're breaking out
Breaking out

Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh

Stop crawling on a broken road
No signs of liberty
Hope fading as these streets corrode
Into anonimity

We gotta run or we'll decay
This can't wait so fuck tomorrow
We'll never quit, never walk away
Don't wanna be here, ain't gonna take it

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh

Again we're told to bite our tongues
Like no one's listening
They turn their backs, they shut us down
With their negativity

[Pre-Chorus]
We gotta run or we'll decay
This can't wait so fuck tomorrow
We'll never quit, never walk away
We stand for something, we stand for nothing

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
So we're breaking out
Breaking out

We need to be the renegades (or we'll suffocate)
We can't get back and we can't stand and hesitate
Left drowning in the acid rain (of this hurricane)
Let's find a place with no more, no more barricades

Break it, break it, break it
Don't wanna be here
Break it, break it, break it

So we're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
These streets became our prison cells
Trapped inside this living hell
So we're breaking out
Breaking out

Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
We're breaking out
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh, whoah-oh
Breaking out
We're breaking out!

Na still like this band but to me it's very disappointing how they changed the sound. I liked every single album (ok Temper Temper was a little of as well, but still a decent album i.m.o.)
Gravity is the first album of them which I really dislike.

The Poison - The shit! \m/
Scraim Aim Fire - Awesome
Fever - Nice
Temper Temper - OK
Venom - Damn good!
Gravity - Na...

2:41 Say what you want about the song, but that last chorus drop is one of their best.

Heard no high notes

Why do so many people complain about their new style?
You can't expect a Band to stay the same forever.
And if you don't like their new songs, then just listen to their old songs.
I like Gravity.

Mark Handscombe

I for one understand that bands need to change their sound up or they risk becoming stale and predictable. Some bands have done this successfully, I just don't feel BFMV are one of them.

Colt

This was the first album of theirs I fully got into, so it remains one of personal favorite albums despite it not being what they're more known for.
