Lionheart
Bury Tomorrow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've never seen myself before
Spending all my time in promised lands
Our home, the only place I've ever known
I'm not alone
Lionheart, you are the one who had my back from the start
Lionheart, you are the one who had my back from the start
The very start, Lionheart
Over and over and this is how it ends
Time after time my passion never ends
This is where we came from and this is were we met
Faces remembered we'll never forget
Over and over and this is how it ends
Time after time my passion never ends
This is where we came from and this is were we met
Faces remembered we'll never forget

Now is our chance to make a stand
This is the era of the common man
Burn us alive With the fire that's in our eyes
Burn us alive Our bodies end where our souls survive

Over and over and this is how it ends
Time after time my passion never ends
This is where we came from and this is were we met
Faces remembered we'll never forget
Over and over and this is how it ends
Time after time my passion never ends
This is where we came from and this is were we met
Faces remembered we'll never forget

Over and over

Time after time
This is how it ends

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Lionheart" by Bury Tomorrow are about the power of friendship and camaraderie. The singer has never truly seen themselves before, until they find themselves in the midst of battle with their comrades, whom they consider their family. The "promised land" they refer to is the place where they feel at home, surrounded by those who have their back. The repeated use of "over and over" and "time after time" emphasizes the cyclical nature of the battles they face, but the singer's passion and dedication never wanes. The chorus is a direct address to their "Lionheart," the one who has been there from the beginning and has always had their back.

The song takes a turn in the bridge, as they declare that now is their chance to make a stand and to burn "with the fire that's in our eyes." They are willing to go all in, even if it means sacrificing their physical bodies as long as their souls survive. The final repetition of "over and over, time after time, this is how it ends" highlights the never-ending nature of the battles they face, but they are not deterred.

Overall, "Lionheart" is a tribute to the power of friendship and the strength that comes from standing together in the midst of adversity.

@yelonasable

This album was and always will be their peak and one of the greatest metalcore albums ever created.

@scottybandicoot6347

I adore The Union of Crowns but I reckon Cannibal was much better

@yvesheinrich5013

@@scottybandicoot6347 I actually just checked Cannibal for the first time yesterday. While Cannibal is probably their maturest record to date, I don't think it's better than The Union of Crown. Cannibal might as well be their heaviest record.

@annefranksattic1727

Pure facts, for me it goes union of crowns, portaits, cannibal, runes, earth bound, black flame and then seventh sun

@SamWerrell

I cannot get over the clean vocals in this band.

@yelonasable

Reminds me of alexisonfire somehow

@D0KSY

@@yelonasable yeah I feel this a bit as well. Dallas is so talented

@BraydenCarlson

This is the only band I listen to while I'm at the gym. When he starts screaming I feel like I can lift any weight and push myself beyond limits. And when the clean vocals begin, it drives and pushes me to get through my cardio. Amazing band.

@dorde08

One of the best songs ever created! <3 spent the past few hours listening to this song on repeat!

@romanshmidt6152

That's how I look, and I understand, it's been almost 11 years since I first found my first and favorite band. Since I was ten years old, I grew up listening to the music of these guys. Thank you for the wonderful time spent with your creativity!
