I have a Great American Cookies store in my area that I can literally take a bus to and get some Doozies for cheap. I can even get ice cream or a pizza from the Domino's next door.

I love softer cookies, but I also like more variety, lol. I honestly looked at that brownie and my stomach churned a little...I'm a huge sweets fan, but chocolate - especially fudge - can be one of those things that lets me take one bite before I'm done.

Though while I was watching I also realized just how many of those women had those long ass nails that I can't imagine what they'd do if some of that icing or cookie crumbs got stuck underneath, LOL.

I swear, the ones eating the display need to watch Osmosis Jones...It's a movie from the early 2000's but it'll give you a little dose of what could happen if you do things like that. :P And honestly I'm just fond of how they did the film. It has a good lesson about hygene though. ;)

That's why as a former Crumbl employee we never told off customers for eating the display cookies. More often then not they are old and there is no barrier to protect them from dust or other people touching them. I’ll be honest, I worked at Crumbl and loved their cookies (still like to go sometimes) but the whole trendy social media aspect of it will be their downfall. I saw it happening while I was still working there. They will prioritize tiktok aesthetics over good quality cookies and the customers are basically just the Starbucks customers of the cookie world.

Edit: I completely forgot to mention the most egregious part of the brand which is how expensive it is.

I'll just say, that in their effort to make these cookies look "social media presentable" they've actually made them unbearably gross. I don't think I'd ever want to touch any of their cookies, and I love sweets. But there's limits to that. That brownie alone, made me gag with the extra chocolate layer of frosting on top eugh
It reminds me of those overly produced cakes that were super popular back in what... 2014-2016 that had like Ferrero, Kit-Kats, Oreos and whatever as well as a shit ton of chocolate frosting everywhere all at once.

As someone who works at a certain Swedish furniture store, it makes me irrationally angry when teens and college age kids come to our store to just dick around, or play hide and seek 😑 or harass customers! In college, we had those vending machine cookies. They were huge, 2$ and had 500 cals per cookie. You knew someone was having a weird day/needed a pick-me-up/forgot their snack if they were eating those. You would definitely get concerned looks from your friends while eating this much calories in less than 5 minutes 😂 It's practically a whole meal, but without the protein and nutrients to make you feel full, so you'd still feel hungry pretty soon after

The only cookie that should have frosting to me (and it’s okay if it’s thick) is Royal icing cookies. The cookies are purposefully bland/have way less sugar, so the Royal icing complements it.

i once got crumbl & decided to save it for when i got home, i reheated it for a few minutes in the oven & i could you not the cookies literally melted. i’m not sure why it happened but i couldn’t even pick up the cookie w/o it falling apart. that has never happened to me when i reheated cookies from other places

As an Australian, you have to keep in mind just how VERY expensive it is to live here. Consider the exchange rate $1 USD : $1.50 AUD, or thereabouts. $5 doesn't seem unreasonable, but $20 does. The big thing Crumbl needs to think about if trying to open here is to remember the difference in Aussie Tastes. We don't do things as sweet as you do. This is why Startbucks failed here.

@@BusiswaG oh no wayyyyy but it was only an hour from my house! I'm also not a crazy sugar fan and I would never wait in line for something as dangerous and dumb as that. Tbh I remember how crazy everyone was when Cinnabon came here.I just think Australians get FOMO about American foods. We actually have many stores around the country that sell American candy and snacks. People spend a pretty penny on things like hot cheetos and twinkies! As someone who also isn't very much into sweets (more salty and sour stuffs) I always see these crumbl videos and wonder how people can handle that much sugar. Hell, some of the videos I view about deserts with a huge amount of chocolate/sweets/candy make my teeth ache. I do like a desert every now and then, but I usually eat it before my main meal. Someone gets it! I worked there for about a year. Each employee is expected to learn the kiosk, drive-thru, and decorating. Only those over 16 could work the ovens and the big mixers. I never liked mixing the dough, as each week, we had new recipes, and I could only remember the recipe for the chocolate chip.
Also, the display cookies are put out fresh each morning. If they were sitting out all week, some of them would melt in their own butter.
The shift leads had to be at least 16. The location I worked at had mostly highschoolers work the night shift. Most adults working there preferred the morning shifts. Their employee turnover was insane, though. And the drama some days were unreal. Some serious stuff went down! 😂😭

Thank you for talking about this topic. I've actually recently been watching a huge slew of videos about the Crumbl cookie controversies that I knew nothing about. I have heard of the company.
Knew about them for a few years.
My sisters put money together to try a few. So I have tasted one or two. Wasn't impressed. Could never imagine spending that much money nor eating that much sugar in a single cookie. Yikes. The menu changes wouldn't be so bad if they trained the employees and brought flavors back on loop that way they aren't stressing out the employees.
Just heard about the scam in Australia recently too. Wild.
They went to the US and brought cookies there. So, not fresh cookies but old,stale and inflated priced.
Crumbl is expensive as is, so the inflated price was foul.
I've heard of younger employees being poorly treated as well.
I'm just not sure why people are spending that kind of money every week.

I remember telling my husband I wanted to try one since my nieces were begging me to (they don't live in the US) I have a sweet tooth for my own culture but it's nothing to the sugar of the US. Husband said you won't like them, I said let me try either way and well... one bite and I almost throw up. Okay now this makes sense on why there is such a divide in this cause I’m like how are so many people saying it’s good and so many people saying it’s not. It’s cause they don’t have actually bakers making the cookies and that’s not cool or fair on the employees. Throwing new recipes at them every week when they don’t have baking experience like that. The idea of having a new cooking every week is cool. But hire people who have baking experience. You can kind of get away with cooking if you don’t really know how to cook. But baking is a whole other field and I would think the owners would know this. Unless they aren’t bakers and they just had an idea and money and that’s how this happened.
