Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more (what you say? )
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more
Whoa, Woman, oh woman, don't you treat me so mean
You're the meanest old woman I have ever seen
I guess if you said so, I'd have to pack my things and go (that's right)
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more (what you say? )
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more
Oh baby, oh baby, don't ya treat me this way 'cause I'll get back on my feet some day
I don't care if you do 'cause it's understood, you ain't got no money you just no good
I guess if you say so, I'd have to pack my things and go (that's right)
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more
Buster?
What you call me?
You are ridicules
Whoa
Why don't you just pack your little suitcase and go on back to Bogalusa (yeah)
Well I just may do that baby, I just may go hit the road and try to find myself
Find yourself? Well if you do, and when you do, get lost!
Who me?
That'right
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more (what you say? )
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more (baby please)
Don't you come back no more (you can not do this to me)
Don't you come back no more (oh baby please)
Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more (but, but, but baby)
Don't you come back no more (oh baby please)
Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more

Don't you come back no more
Don't you come back no more

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Hit the Road Jack" by Buster Poindexter tell a story of a couple's rocky relationship. The singer is fed up with being mistreated by his partner and is threatening to leave. He tells her that she is the meanest woman he has ever seen and that he will pack his things and hit the road if she keeps treating him this way. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more" as a way of emphasizing the singer's determination to leave.

The call-and-response structure of the song is particularly effective at conveying the singer's frustration. The verses are sung by Poindexter, while the woman's responses are provided by a backup vocal group. The repetition of the "Hit the road Jack" line in the chorus serves as a catchy refrain that sticks in the listener's head. Overall, the song is a fun and upbeat take on a familiar theme of romantic discord and breakup.

With all due respect for Ray Charles (TRULY, his is the original and is legendary), this is the most entertaining rendition of this song. Very skillfully choreographed and performed. I first saw him on Letterman, and before he performed I thought he was just some ridiculously attired nightclub singer who had a small following within NYC. And then he performed. OMG! I hadn't realized his appearance was precisely as he had intended. Buster is a HOOT!

@josie1776

The chorus is better here. Changing a little the time of the fourth "no more" was a brilliiant idea.
