Walker grew up in Cartersville, Georgia and stood out as a guitarist and performer in several rock bands in the '80s including Bad Boyz and Byte the Bullet. In 1988, he took Byte the Bullet to LA and they were signed to Virgin Records within the year. The band changed names to Southgang and released two albums, Tainted Angel in 1991 and Group Therapy in 1992. Southgang was one of the first bands to tour China in the early '90s.
Afterwards, Butch took over lead vocals and with ex-SouthGang members Jayce Fincher and Mitch McLee formed several bands in the 90s including Floyds Funk Revival, The Floyds, and the popular pop-rock band Marvelous 3. After the break-up of the band in early 2000, Butch then began a solo career, releasing the albums Left of Self-Centered in 2002 and Letters in 2004, finishing 2005 playing over 200 live shows across both the US and Japan. Take Tomorrow

For a while.
You've been trying to find a smile.
You got stood up
Then you fell down.
When you needed, there was no one around.
Love the previews and hate the movie.
Scream at the screen "something move me"
Give me all your fear
Throw it all away
And think about the good things
No matter what they say
And we'll take tomorrow, baby (yeah)
One day at a time.
You just stare in space.
You found love but it got erased.
On the road with all the stoplights.
And you're too afraid to turn wrong from right.
You ate your soul and it made you fat.
Starve yourself from everything else that
Makes you completely full.
Give me all your fear
Throw it all away
And think about the good things
No matter what they say
And we'll take tomorrow, baby (yeah)
One day at a time.
So you run, so you hide.
And you watch as they die.
They all fell, you could fall too.
Or you could sow your wings
And try to fly right through.
The lyrics of Butch Walker's "Take Tomorrow" talk about feeling lost and alone, trying to find something to hold on to. The first couple of lines show that the subject of the song has been struggling to find happiness for a while. They have been stood up and fallen down, and found themselves alone when they needed someone most. The lyrics talk about hating the movie but loving the previews, as if the person can't find anything in their life they enjoy anymore. The refrain encourages the listener (or the subject of the song) to release their fear and think about the good things, no matter what people say. The song urges the listener to take things one day at a time and keep moving forward.
The second verse of the song continues in the same vein, with the lyrics suggesting that the person once found love but lost it, and is now too afraid to make a mistake when choices come up. The line "you ate your soul and it made you fat" could represent the feelings of ennui and sluggishness that come with depression, and the following line urges the subject to release themselves from everything they think makes them unhappy. The final stanza encourages the person to embrace life more fully, to fly instead of watching others fall.
Overall, the song seems to be about the difficulties of life and the struggle to find meaning and happiness. The lyrics paint a picture of someone feeling lost and alone, but urging them to release their fears and embrace the good things in life.
