Boucher, born June 2, 1979, is the middle child of seven daughters. The name "Butterfly" was a suggestion from a friend of the family. Her mother didn't initially like the name but kept seeing butterflies in pictures, on clothing, etc. before the birth. In later years, Butterfly's sister had a band, The Mercy Bell, in which Butterfly played bass guitar. In 2004 and 2005, Boucher toured the U.S. and Canada, opening for Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies.
Butterfly currently resides in the United States. She released her first track of the album, "I Can't Make Me," in the UK first. It did poorly. However, when she released that track along with "Another White Dash," her U.S. success was assured. While a second album is in the pipeline, there is no official date for its release.
Boucher sang David Bowie's "Changes" with Bowie on the soundtrack for Shrek 2.
Boucher sang "I'm Different" on the "For The Kids Too" CD which was released in 2004 and is currently available on iTunes.
A remix of Boucher's single, "I Can't Make Me" is featured on "Charmed: The Book Of Shadows," a soundtrack from the television show on The WB.
Boucher's songs "Life is Short" and "Never Leave Your Heart Alone" were featured on the hit show "Grey's Anatomy" during the first season. And the track "Bitter Song" was featured during season 3 of that same show.
From July 22 to Aug 6, 2008, Boucher toured with nine other artists from Tennessee as part of the Ten out of Tenn tour.

Drift On
Butterfly Boucher Lyrics

If the sun shines right I might be here all day.
I drift away, in a sunken state
I'm busy lappin' it up, I might be here all day.
With the tides, and their little secrets,
Whispering me to sleep.
Would you take away my weakness,
If the waters cool, I might just swim
If the sun shines right I might be here all day
I drift away, in a sunken state
I'm busy lappin' it up, I might be here all day
With the ripples and their stories
Cooking up a storm
Will you carry all my weakness,
Drift on, drift on.
If the waters cool, I might just swim
I drift away in a sunken state
I'm busy lappin' it up, I might be here all day.
With the under current lurking,
Watching sideways from afar,
Could you take away my weakness
I'm not that strong.
You see I feel so heavy without you
And you say;
Drift on, drift on, drift on.
Drift on, mm hmm stay strong,
Drift on.
If the waters cool I might just swim,
The lyrics to Butterfly Boucher's song Drift On are open to interpretation, but in general, the song seems to be about finding solace in the natural world. The singer is content to drift away, lose themselves in the currents and tides, and forget about their troubles. The water is a place of refuge, a place where the singer can escape from their weaknesses and just be.
The repeated phrase "drift on" seems to represent the idea of letting go and allowing oneself to be carried away by the currents. The singer is calling out for someone to help them carry their weaknesses and burdens as they drift away, but ultimately, they are encouraged to stay strong and keep drifting on.
The imagery in the song is very sensory, with water, waves, and the sun all described in detail. The music is light and airy, contributing to the feeling of weightlessness that pervades the song.
Overall, Drift On is a beautiful and soothing song that encourages listeners to take a break from the stresses of life and just float for a while.
