All by Myself
CšŠline Dion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

Hard to be sure
Sometimes I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself
Anymore

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone

All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

All by myself
Don't wanna live
Oh
Don't wanna live
By myself, by myself
Anymore
By myself
Anymore
Oh
All by myself
Don't wanna live

I never, never, never
Needed anyone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to CĂ©line Dion's song "All By Myself" speak to the struggle of loneliness and the desire for connection. The first stanza describes the carefree days of youth, when the singer never needed anyone and intimacy was just a game. But now, those days are gone and she is left alone, thinking of all the friends she's had but unable to reach out to anyone, as nobody is there when she dials the phone.

The chorus is a repeated refrain of the singer's declaration that she doesn't want to be all by herself anymore. In the second stanza, she expresses her insecurity and the impossibility of finding love, but notes that love is still the cure for her loneliness. The song then brings us back to the first stanza, as the singer laments the loss of her carefree days and the constant loneliness that plagues her.

The lyrics to "All By Myself" have been interpreted in many different ways, with some seeing it as a straightforward expression of loneliness, while others see it as a commentary on addiction or depression. Regardless of the interpretation, it is clear that the song speaks to a universal human experience of longing for connection and fearing the possibility of being alone.

@BILALTHEQUEEN

That last note,at first she could not make it,in the recording studio it was so hard that the guy who composed the arrangement told her "you know Whitney is just next recording her album,if you want to I can call her" and she pulled it off...voilaaa

@Nofiih

It is actually not true. CĂ©line did not think she could hit the note, but the guy, David Foster, was sure she could and then said to her: "Don't worry, Whitney is in the next room, so if you.." and it gave CĂ©line the will and the courage to try, and then she hit the note perfectly in the first try!!

@mohamedsayed9432
