Adeste Fideles
Céline Dion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

O come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

O come ye O come ye to Bethlehem.

O come all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant

O come ye O come ye to Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him

Born the King of Angels!

O come let us adore Him

O come let us adore Him

O come let us adore Him

Christ the Lord.

Sing choirs of angels

Sing in exhaltation

O sing all ye citizens of heaven above.

Glory to God -

Glory in the Highest

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,

Born this happy morning

Oh Jesus, to Thee be a glory giv'n

Word of the Father,

Now in flesh appearing

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Celine Dion's "Adeste Fideles" are a call to all believers to come to Bethlehem and witness the birth of Christ. The song opens with a repeated call to "come all ye faithful," inviting all those who have faith to join in celebration. The song then describes the glory of the occasion, with choirs of angels singing and heaven above filled with citizens rejoicing. It is a moment of pure joy, with Christ the Lord born as the King of Angels. The song closes with a declaration of greeting to the newborn Christ, and a recognition of the Word of the Father appearing in flesh.

The lyrics to "Adeste Fideles" are a classic example of a Christmas hymn, with its joyous call to celebrate the birth of Christ. The song, which is more commonly known as "O Come All Ye Faithful," was originally written in Latin by John Francis Wade in the 18th century, and has been translated into numerous languages. It has become a beloved part of Christmas celebrations around the world, and is often sung as part of a traditional Christmas Eve service or caroling.

I actually sang in the background choir for this song at the crystal cathedral! We recorded with only organ and Celine wasn’t there. It took 3 hours! Then she later recorded her voice and added orchestra. I thought I was in heaven it was so glorious and exciting! Although, I was so upset she wasn’t there. I wanted to meet her.
