The promotional CD contained, also, two remixes of "Did You Give Enough Love:" remix 45" and 12" club mix. The single was released without a cover, but there was a pictured CD. It was also included on "The Power of Love" European single, released the next year.
The black and white music video is notable for being one of Dion's sexiest.
The song peaked at number 19 on the Canadian Contemporary Hit Radio Chart.

Why I walked away
I know you thought you were so good to me
I didn't see it that way
My love's not something you can buy and sell
Like pearls on a string
And if you want to know where we went wrong
You ought to stop and think
Did you give enough love? Did you show that you cared?
When I needed understanding were you really there?
Whenever I was down did you try to pick me up?
Maybe you should ask yourself
Did you give enough love?
Did you give enough love?
Good intentions I know you had
Right from the start
But if you wonder why we didn't last
Just look inside your heart
Did you give enough love? Did you show that you cared?
When I needed understanding were you really there?
Whenever I was down did you try to pick me up?
Maybe you should ask yourself
Did you give enough time when I was alone?
When I needed you there to make me feel I belonged
You just don't know what you do to me
I just had to be free
Did you give enough
Did you, did you, did you give enough love?
Did you, did you, did you give enough love?
Did you give enough love? Did you show that you cared?
When I needed understanding were you really there?
Whenever I was down did you try to pick me up?
Maybe you should ask yourself
Did you give enough love?
Did you give enough love?
Did you give enough, baby?
Did you try to pick me up? Ask yourself
Did you, did you, did you give enough
Did you, did you, did you give enough (did you give enough love?)
Did you, did you, did you (do you really think, baby?)
Sometimes, did you try to pick me up, pick me up, pick me up, pick, pick me up?
Did you give enough love? Did you, did you
Did you show that you care?
Maybe you should ask yourself
The lyrics of Celine Dion's song "Did You Give Enough Love" is a message from the perspective of someone who has left a relationship behind. The song asks the question, "Did you give enough love?" implying that the reason for the breakup was due to the fact that one partner didn't give enough love to the other. The singer explains that their former partner had good intentions, but that wasn't enough. The singer suggests that love is more than just intentions; it's something that should be shown and felt.
The verse "My love's not something you can buy and sell, Like pearls on a string" is a metaphor that encourages listeners to understand that real love is not something that can be purchased. It's something that should be deep, genuine, and should be given without expectations of anything in return. Later, the lyrics also suggest that someone might devote themselves to a relationship thinking they're doing everything right, but if they're not providing the support, comfort, and understanding that their partner needs, the relationship will still fail.
The lyrics encourage us to self-reflect and question what we bring to the table in relationships. It also reminds us that it's not just good intentions that make relationships successful - real love needs to be demonstrated through actions and care.

The album needed more songs like this, really. I know that most of world population know and love Celine the balladeer, but my God, it's such a pleasure to listen to her songs of this nature. Sophisticated, sensual, sexy and witty lyrically. Not to mention that this video is spectacular as well! Truly the queen of pop that got away because she herself loves too much of bombastic ballads.
@Nabhan82
One of my favorites from Celine, her vocals during the verses? Stunning. Very underrated unfortunately.
