Cockroaches scuttle along the floor

He wonders where God is in his life.

No light source comes into the room
The room is dark.

Shadows cast into the room
The shadows in the room create a dark atmosphere.

He doesn't bother get up

Guests
others present in the room.

Yet he still feels alone
He still has a sense of loneliness.

Who is this stranger
He wonders who this unknown person is.

The room across the hall
The area across from his current location.

A game of cards is being played
The group plays cards.

The cards are being shuffled at this moment.

I love poker
The man across the hall loves poker.

I'm playing cards, I'm playing cards
He informs us that he is in the middle of playing cards.

A card player inquires about the other's dinner.

He admits to having a perpetual desire to taste buttercream frosting.
